Looking for This Specific Baby Name Book

Back in [name]October[/name] I was in the parenting section at Borders and I stumbled across this awesome baby name book. If I remember correctly, the first part the of the book put names into one of four categories (the only one I can remember is “last names for first names”) In the 2nd half of the book (where the name lists were) it would say what category that name fell into and then give a couple of suggestion for male/female sibling names. I should have bought it that night, but I didn’t. However, we are now pregnant with [name]Baby[/name] No. 2 and I cannot find this book anywhere. I have looked through every baby name book at [name]Barnes[/name] & [name]Noble[/name] and Borders, as well as looked online at places like Amazon. Of course I cannot remember the title…just what the name section looked like. Does this book sound familiar to any of you!!!

Is the book “[name]Baby[/name] Name [name]Wizard[/name]” by [name]Laura[/name] Wattenberg? She gives lists of sibling names on each name entry. I love “[name]Baby[/name] Name [name]Wizard[/name]”!

I want to say no. I am pretty sure I looked at that one. Does it mention something about categories? Maybe I need to take another look at that one…I really hope that is it!

Your description does sound like [name]Laura[/name] Wattenberg’s “The [name]Baby[/name] Name [name]Wizard[/name]” but in reverse order:
First part of the book is an alphabetical compiling of baby names – “Name Snapshots” – and gives for each name its popularity, style, sibling names (I know of no other baby name book that gives suggestions for sibling names).
Second part of the book, groups names into “Style Families” and one of those is “Last Names First”.

Be sure to buy the 2009 revised edition: in the upper left hand corner of the cover it has a red circle with “FULLY REVISED AND UPDATED WITH NEW NAMES” written in it. Some bookstores may still be offering the 2005 edition, but look for the new one.

Wattenberg has said that her book is two books in one, and it certainly is. Along with [name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name]'s books, “[name]Wizard[/name]” has been a favorite in my family when a new baby is on the way.

It almost sounds like a book I got not to long ago called “The complete book of baby names”. It’s written by [name]Lesley[/name] [name]Bolton[/name]. It’s very good and tells different groups of girl’s names from frilly ones to straightlaced ones. I hope this helps some!
