I have a hunch this baby might be a boy. Boy’s names have always been harder for us than girls names. If this is a boy, he will be our first – we haven’t had to actually use a boy’s name yet.
Big sisters are [name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Isla[/name], and [name]Eloise[/name].
We like names that aren’t trendy, aren’t too popular, but aren’t too unusual either; however, I think we’ll probably go with a boy’s name that is higher in popularity than our girls’ names (which all seem to be skyrocketing anyways!).
Names we’ve tossed around: [name]Edmund[/name], [name]Eamon[/name], [name]Charles[/name] . . .well, that’s kind to it right now.
Names we like but won’t use for various reasons (popularity, already used by friend or family member, pronunciation, etc.): [name]Liam[/name], [name]Josiah[/name], [name]Silas[/name], [name]Oliver[/name], Matthias
I almost decided that [name]Jack[/name] was the perfect name for us until I realized that it rhymes with the first syllable of our 2 syllable last name, so it’s out!
So, can some berries help me out? Should this baby be a boy. I want a strong, handsome name that is somewhat unexpected, uncommon, yet familiar – is that too much to ask? : )
Oh, just wanted to add that probable middle(s) are [name]William[/name] and [name]Frederick[/name] (this has been considered for the first name spot, it’s our back-up in case we can’t agree on anything else). These are both family names.
[name]Alarik[/name] or [name]Alaric[/name] would both fit this, although they may not sound fabulous with [name]Frederick[/name]. [name]Alarick/name is unique while still being somewhat familiar due to the eric sound.
You have a vowel theme going with the girls so:
[name]Orson[/name]
[name]Otis[/name]
[name]Oscar[/name]
[name]Owen[/name]
Orien
[name]Archer[/name]
[name]Alben[/name]
Auben
[name]Albert[/name]
[name]Alistair[/name]
[name]Ewen[/name]
[name]Even[/name]
[name]Ethan[/name]
[name]Everett[/name]
Izac
I’m watching this thread with interest and taking some great suggestions as I think our styles are very similar, I have DDs [name]Charlize[/name] and [name]Arabella[/name] - [name]Eloise[/name] and [name]Isla[/name] are both on the short list for number three, but have had so much trouble wit finding the perfect boys name. My list (still to be discussed with DP) include:
[name]Albert[/name]
[name]Aurelio[/name] (nn [name]Leo[/name] - I love [name]Aurelia[/name] if its another girl, but not too sure if its too much cwith [name]Arabella[/name])
[name]Rafferty[/name]
[name]Zander[/name]
[name]Emrys[/name]
[name]Elliot[/name]
[name]Evander[/name]
Would love to hear whether any of the names suggested by others make your short list.
I was also going to suggest [name]Oliver[/name], due to the girls all having a different vowel beginning (you have A, E and I covered) and the L’s in all three names. [name]Frederick[/name] [name]William[/name] is also nice.
Thanks for all the replies. I won’t have a chance to comment on specific names until later tonight or tomorrow.
[name]Just[/name] wanted to add a couple of things.
The vowel “theme” was unintentional and not something we feel the need to continue.
The “l” sound in the middle of each name was also a coincidence, thought may reflect an unconscious preference we have in girls names.
Aside from the fact that we prefer names that are more classics than trendy, there isn’t really any connection between our girls’ names and the boys’ names we are considering.
Yes, [name]Frederick[/name] [name]William[/name] is our fall back name at the moment, though I’m having a hard time getting any decidedly positive feedback on anything from my hubby – he gets name fatigue from being around this name nerd! He doesn’t like to really talk seriously about names until sometime in the last trimester and, well, I’m sure most of you understand that’s just not possible is it!?!
My first thought on seeing the subject title of the post, before even reading it, was immediately “[name]Frederick[/name]!!” So [name]Frederick[/name] [name]William[/name] totally has my vote.
