Lorelei?

So usually I love classics for girls like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]. However, as TTC approaches and this is becoming more real, I’ve been attracted to less common names. Lately I’ve been loving [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], and now [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]! What do you think of [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], what do you picture a [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] to look like/be like. Also, what nicknames besides [name_f]Lori[/name_f] or [name_u]Rory[/name_u]? Thanks in advance!

I love [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]! Of course I have a strong association with [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls which took it past southern belle status but I love that show so much. I think [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] is versatile, she could be a lawyer or an artist. I envision a girl with dark hair and dark eyes. Nns: [name_f]Lila[/name_f] or [name_f]Lola[/name_f]

If you live in the US (maybe elsewhere too, idk where all it is popular), you will 100% get [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls associations. With the new episodes airing soon, it will increase even more. Though I have nothing against [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] as a name, I’m not a fan of it seeming as if it’s after a popular character. [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is also her daughter’s name in the show, so using that as a nn just doubles the reference. Personally I would avoid it, though I think the name is fine if you think it’s the one. I love [name_f]Lola[/name_f] as mentioned above and think it’s unique! Also like your mentioned names of [name_f]Norah[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]! Also [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is really common for a mn but not as a first and would be beautiful!

I actually don’t hate the GG reference. I just question if the name fits a girl of any age, and the types of nicknames that could come about.

I love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] and [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] will age well and it’s not terribly strange. It fits in well with the [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f] trend. Agree with kashed on its versatility–I can picture it on any type of person. I do picture someone with dark hair because of [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] but I saw a cute little girl at the aquarium who was named [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] and had blonde hair. Very cute on her!

I had never heard of this name before until my husband short listed it, I think he may of secretly watched the ‘Gimore Girls’ without me knowing
I do however think it’s very different and sweet!

I like [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], I’ve only ever met one and I think it’s just a really interesting and pretty name.

Personally, I don’t care about the GG reference as I have never watched the show. I always think of the one little girl I met when I hear the name.

I think it’s a very pretty name. It seems to be able to fit multiple types of people of all ages. I also have no knowledge of the [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls and I’m in the US so I have no associations with the name. I would t worry about that at all. I can’t think of any other obvious nicknames for [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]. It’s a lovely name!

I’m from Australia and I think of [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls. I really like it but be very prepared for “like [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls” comments

My daughters name is [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] and those who know the show always as “like the [name_m]Gilmore[/name_m] Girls” and I always respond “no like the [name_m]German[/name_m] Folklore and [name_m]Heinrich[/name_m] [name_m]Heine[/name_m] poem”. (We did spell it [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] afterall and not [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f]!) However I’m also first gen [name_m]German[/name_m]-American so people seem to think that’s fairly normal. (Well except for all the Germans who think it’s just the weirdest thing they’ve ever heard.)

We obviously love it and it won out as it was the only name we could both agree upon loving even though I’m still having issues deciding on a nn for her.
