Thoughts on [name_f]Lori[/name_f]? I think it’s pretty. Nameberry’s description of it is not that flattering “sixties babysitter” haha. Is it too dated or ready for a comeback?
I think [name_f]Lori[/name_f] is dated. [name_u]Laurie[/name_u] looks a little less dated to me. I love [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] though, which is very similar. [name_f]Lorraine[/name_f] is quite nice too.
It feels dated to me. Maybe use [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] and you could use [name_f]Lori[/name_f] as her nn but she would have [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] (or [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]) as her formal name.
I know just one [name_f]Lori[/name_f] and she’s my age, so it doesn’t feel that dated to me. I guess it’s never been particularly popular here in the UK though so maybe not a comparable situation.
It’s short and cute and I can definitely see the appeal, but it does feel a bit too nicknamey for me. I think I’d prefer something like [name_u]Nori[/name_u], [name_f]Lumi[/name_f] or [name_f]Ruri[/name_f].
Doesn’t feel dated to me at all, but I would assume it’s a nickname.
I quite like [name_f]Lori[/name_f], but agree with others that it sounds too nickname-y for me. [name_u]Laurie[/name_u] has a little more class also.
I love Lórien, [name_f]Liora[/name_f], [name_u]Lior[/name_u], Loreto, [name_f]Loretta[/name_f], [name_f]Lorenza[/name_f] and just [name_f]Lore[/name_f] as well. And [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f], which I think is an awesome full name for [name_f]Lori[/name_f].
[name_u]Nori[/name_u] and [name_f]Lumi[/name_f], suggested by @katinka, are lovely, less nickname-y options. I’m also reminded or [name_f]Suki[/name_f], [name_f]Suri[/name_f], [name_f]Eleni[/name_f], [name_f]Delphi[/name_f], Tesni, [name_f]Tulsi[/name_f], [name_f]Mari[/name_f], [name_f]Pari[/name_f], [name_f]Eleri[/name_f] and [name_f]Behati[/name_f].
I’d say it’s a bit dated, but I am not against dated names. I think you could do [name_f]Lorelai[/name_f] “[name_f]Lori[/name_f]”.
I had a neighbour called [name_f]Lori[/name_f] who was about the same age as me, so I can see it working well on a youngster
I like [name_f]Lori[/name_f]! I can see why people think it’s dated though (I think my mom’s roommate in college was named [name_f]Lori[/name_f]) but I still like it. Especially as a nickname for something like [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f].
[name_f]Lori[/name_f] seems very dated to me, to be honest. I have met quite a few older women named [name_f]Lori[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Lori[/name_f]!
As a nn, I think [name_f]Lori[/name_f] could work…but as a stand alone name it definitely looks dated. Good thing is there are plenty of names that could be shortened to [name_f]Lori[/name_f]!
The only [name_f]Loris[/name_f] I’ve known are now 53 & 46, so it may seem dated to some people. But if you really like it, then I think you should use it. I do love the name [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], & [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] is very nice as well, if you’d like a more formal name that could be shortened to [name_f]Lori[/name_f].
