[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] was spotted a few weeks ago and it has quickly made its way onto our Top 5 list. It is Irish in origin and we both have strong Irish roots. The nickname [name_m]Raff[/name_m] is appealing in its own, funky yet handsome, way and I love three syllable names! I know its a surname and that’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I’d love, love, love opinions!! Right now fiance says this is his number 1 name, surpassing [name_m]Gulliver[/name_m] and our “want to use but can’t because a friend used” name [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. THOUGHTS?!
Suggestions on TWO middle names would be lovely, also! Last name starts with W and rhymes with milky
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] is way more awesome than [name_m]Gulliver[/name_m] or [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. None of your names are really my cup of Tetley but they don’t have to be, because he’s not my baby. I’m excited that you both have found a name to be excited over, because that’s always special.
I see in your sig [name_m]Bear[/name_m] is a possible option to go with [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]. I think that sounds great [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Linus[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] could also really rock this world, but I’ll leave it at that because I suck at this game.
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] seems to be getting lots of love recently (maybe more as a middle name) but does have a lot of potential. As pp have mentioned the double -ee ending might be a cause for concern but if you are thinking he will mostly go by a nn then that solves that issue.
Potential combos: (note I’m not particularly adept at the double middle name)
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Clyde[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] Gillbert [name_m]Clyde[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] [name_m]Truman[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Archibald[/name_m] [name_m]Clyde[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m]
No suggestions really, but I’m due any day now and two of our top 3 choices are [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] too! As a poster mentioned though, I find [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] a bit bland in comparison which is why I have found it gets a lot more love on the “public” market. I never knew [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] as a surname since our Irish ties are practically non existent but it’s my ONE hesitation about the name these days. I love love love the nn [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] too.
I love [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]! I find it handsome and spunky, a bit rascally, a bit geek-chic. It’s kind of old-school and modern at the same time. [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] is adorable… how about [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_u]Elias[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_u]Logan[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_u]Lennox[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Silas[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_u]Jamison[/name_u] [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m]? could probably go on and on with names that work here…
I am nervous about the similar endings too and usually that would bother me a ton! But something about [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Wilkie[/name_m] sounds charming to me… Ahh I don’t know!
Surnames aren’t my favorite trend but this one feels less “surnamey”… maybe because it is so different? Have you had your baby yet? I’m dying to know what you ended up choosing!
I love [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]! It is very handsome and distinguished. I do think the double “y” ending might be a concern but could work with the right surname. A couple of friends recently named their baby [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] which I do not care for at all (for me, it always calls to mind the unpleasant word it rhymes with), so personally I would go with [name_m]Raff[/name_m] or [name_m]Raffi[/name_m] for a nn. One of the pp’s suggested [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] Sebastion which I think is amazing, OR you could go with [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] which would be fantastic also. I’m usually not a fan of two mn’s but [name_m]Bear[/name_m] as the second one really works I think.
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] is handsome sounding with a mischievous edge to it like he’d probably be a trouble maker. Exactly the kind of Irish name I like hence [name_m]Finnegan[/name_m] and [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] in the #1 spots on my list!
