I love the nickname [name]Lottie[/name], but I don’t want to use [name]Charlotte[/name].
I like [name]Charlotte[/name] well enough, but the number 45 status makes it a no-go for me. I don’t think I could use a girl name in the top 100. Boy names are more permissible since it seems like there so fewer options. Plus the thought of someone calling her [name]Charlie[/name] makes my skin crawl. So [name]Charlotte[/name] is out.
But I keep coming back to [name]Lottie[/name]. Can anyone think of any other way to get to it?
It’s a combination of Hebrew for [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] in French, I think.
I am actually considering it myself in lieu of the obviously controversial [name]Jemima[/name]. It’s a rare beautiful name and the nickname [name]Lottie[/name] does accompany it. Good luck!
why dont you name her charlotte but call her lottie. when you meet people introduce her as lottie. that way she doesn’t really have a top 100 name as there wont be many lotties
I love [name]Lottie[/name] but feel the same way about [name]Charlotte[/name]. [name]Ottilie[/name] and [name]Loretta[/name] also work I think. [name]Loretta[/name] is my favorite.
I had exactly the same problem a while ago when I had a serious crush on the name [name]Lottie[/name] (Here’s the thread I started in case you’re interested: Nameberry - Welcome to the Nameberry Forums). I think Hannelotte and [name]Lieselotte[/name] are my favourite ways to get the nn [name]Lottie[/name], but [name]Ottilie[/name] and [name]Carlotta[/name] are also lovely.
[name]Charlotte[/name] is also one of the names I am considering, however I really liked the “[name]Charlie[/name]” nickname My husband however was not a fan so looking like [name]Charlotte[/name] is not going to happen. But, like you I am also concerned about it’s popularity however it is such a pretty name!!
My first thought was the already mentioned [name]Liselotte[/name], which I really like. [name]Lotte[/name] or [name]Lotta[/name] could be options if they don’t sound insubstantial or incomplete to you. I also really like the suggestion of [name]Ottilie[/name]! Perhaps even [name]Ottoline[/name] could work? Or maybe [name]Loretta[/name]?
I have an [name]Ottilie[/name] who mainly goes by [name]Lottie[/name] these days.
Nobody has ever been surprised by the link between name and nickname- I think its pretty solid!
Of course. My great grandmother was [name]Loretta[/name] who went by [name]Lottie[/name]. I also know a beautiful Swedish girl named Lohtse (Lote-see). And in fact i also know a [name]Lara[/name] pronounced La-tah. You could also do [name]Lorraine[/name]. My favorite is actually Lohtse though. However you may want to check my spelling on that, look up Swedish names or something. What’s your favorite so far?
My grandmother was named [name]Loretto[/name] … I’ve heard [name]Loretta[/name] here and there, but never another [name]Loretto[/name]. [name]Lottie[/name] works with that, right?
I love the name [name]Charlotte[/name], but if you don’t that’s ok. [name]How[/name] about the name [name]Carlotta[/name], which I also love to get to [name]Lottie[/name].
I have thought it would work if [name]Charlotte[/name] is the middle for an L and especially an Lo name. I like [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Lottie[/name] especially.
[name]Just[/name] going to put this out there. You don’t have to use a longer name. If you only plan on using [name]Lottie[/name] than name your baby [name]Lottie[/name]. You shouldn’t search for a name based on a nickname when [name]Lottie[/name] can stand on its own.
