Thoughts on [name_m]Louie[/name_m] for a boy? Spelled to feminine? I love the name [name_m]Louis[/name_m], but worries it will be pronounced [name_m]Lewis[/name_m].

I don’t think there’s anything feminine about it! If anything, [name_m]Louie[/name_m] feels unisex, but it still leans more masculine than feminine to me. It’s a really lovely, classic and handsome choice! I do like [name_m]Louis[/name_m] more but it depends on where you’re from how much you’d struggle to enforce the correct pronunciation.
Louis is always Louie in Australia, with Lewis being Lewis. I prefer the look of Louis better than Louie which looks more cutesy and nicknamey to me. To use Louie, I might have it as a nickname for Lucian or Lewis.
But I get it’s harder if where you are, Louis will get Lewis half the time.
I like [name_m]Louie[/name_m] better too to avoid pronunciation issues.
I love Louie!! I think the pronunciation is more intuitive with this spelling as well
[name_m]Louie[/name_m] is nice [name_f][/name_f]- gets you the pronunciation you like and I’ve seen it spelled like this. Plus, plenty of boy names end in -ie, like [name_m]Charlie[/name_m], [name_m]Albie[/name_m], [name_m]Archie[/name_m], [name_m]Alfie[/name_m], [name_m]Jamie[/name_m] etc.
I like [name_m]Louie[/name_m] more!! He’s much more playful, while [name_m]Louis[/name_m] is more buttoned-up to me. It really depends on what vibe you’re going for, and at least in my area, how often you want to correct pronunciation.
I like both [name_m]Louie[/name_m] and [name_m]Louis[/name_m], but this spelling makes the most sense if you 100% want to avoid mispronunciations. Such a soft and handsome name!
[name_m]Louis[/name_m] is lovely! [name_f][/name_f] I think [name_m]Louie[/name_m] is fine and would work well in the US, although personally I would still use Louis… some names I just can’t convince myself to go for a more anglicized spelling even if it would be easier (like [name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] vs. Aylee).
[name_f][/name_f]I would be happy to see [name_m]Louis[/name_m] or [name_m]Louie[/name_m], though, on someone else’s little boy!
For me I prefer it Louis…but here in the UK there isn’t really a worry of it being mispronounced as I would say loo-ee is the default.
[name_f][/name_f]I don’t think [name_m]Louie[/name_m] looks too feminine though
