Louis for girl

[name_m]Hi[/name_m],do you think that its possible to name girl [name_m]Louis[/name_m]? I love this name. Please dont write about [name_f]Louise[/name_f] or something like that.

Yes if you spell it [name_m]Lewie[/name_m]

It’s possible, but I wouldn’t do it personally. I know you said not to mention [name_f]Louise[/name_f], but I feel like there are so many close female variants that choosing a traditionally masculine name just isn’t necessary. You could use [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], or save [name_m]Louis[/name_m] for if you ever have a son.

I don’t think it’s a smart idea, however, you could name her [name_u]Lou[/name_u], which is a unisex name and definitely works for girls and just call her [name_m]Louie[/name_m].

I’d recommend a variant. [name_m]Louis[/name_m] is too all-male to me. [name_u]Lou[/name_u] is a great suggestion.

Is it possible? Sure. Would it create unnecessary problems for your daughter? 100%
Save it for a son or go with a feminine/unisex name, like [name_u]Lou[/name_u] or [name_f]Louisa[/name_f].

No. [name_m]Louis[/name_m] is not a girl’s name. [name_u]Lou[/name_u] would work. Not [name_m]Louis[/name_m].

Maybe as a middle.

I like the suggestions of [name_u]Lou[/name_u] or [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] nicknamed [name_m]Louie[/name_m]. I persobally don’t like [name_m]Louis[/name_m] for a girl.

Of course it’s possible, but [name_m]Louis[/name_m] is still a man’s name.

[name_m]Louis[/name_m] is a name that really is more masculine. If it were me I would go with [name_f]Lois[/name_f] which allows for any of the same nicknames. That being said [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] and [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] and the like are gaining popularity as girl’s names so if you really love it I say go for it! [name_m]Just[/name_m] make sure you totally think through any insensitive comments or errors (assuming you saide [name_f]Lois[/name_f] or [name_f]Louise[/name_f]) others might make and be sure it won’t get under your skin.

Definitely not go with [name_u]Lou[/name_u], [name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] or [name_f]Elouise[/name_f].

Possible? (Unless you live in Denmark) I suppose so. I just don’t understand why. I mean, as a middle name, sure, but a first name? I don’t understand it.

When I read [name_m]Louis[/name_m], it screams of masculinity to me but when I hear it I find it quite feminine. So yes, I think [name_m]Louis[/name_m] could work for a girl but I think it would work a lot better if spelled [name_m]Louie[/name_m] or Lewey.

I absolutely love it. You are pronouncing it [name_m]Louie[/name_m], not [name_m]Lewis[/name_m]? [name_f]Louise[/name_f], [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], [name_u]Lou[/name_u] -I imagine [name_m]Louie[/name_m] would be a n/name somehow- sometime. Very innovative to use [name_m]Louis[/name_m]. Its just so pretty, I would admire you and am thinking of your child - just a little bit different but delightful…

For me [name_m]Louis[/name_m]is only a boy name.

I think if your pronouncing it [name_m]Louie[/name_m] it would work, but If your pronouncing it [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], it will not work. I think spelling it [name_m]Louie[/name_m] or Louey would be better though.

[name_m]Louie[/name_m] would be adorable

I think it would be fine. It might be confused with [name_f]Louise[/name_f]/[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] or another feminine variation so I would be inclined to use the [name_m]Lewis[/name_m] spelling. It’s usable, though.

I think [name_m]Louis[/name_m] is a boys only name.
