[name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [LOOR-dehs] is new to my list but I’m completely smitten.
What do you think of the name [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f]? Which of the combos below do you prefer? Why?
I’m having trouble coming up with similar names that I enjoy or would consider as a sibling for her. What do you think of [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] as a potential sibling to [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] and/or [name_f]Ursula[/name_f]? If you dislike them together, what would you name [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f]’ sibling(s)?
[name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] are amazing!
I’d also suggest [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Oceane[/name_f], [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] and [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f].
I think [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] and [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] work for siblings!
I can also picture [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] with:
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f]
[name_f]Thessaly[/name_f]
Laeticia
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]
[name_f]Alba[/name_f]
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]
[name_f]Leontine[/name_f]
[name_f]Arcadia[/name_f]
I absolutely adore [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f], and actually have it on my own list. However, it is pretty heavily connected to Christianity (more specifically, Catholicism) from what I found on the internet. I wasn’t put off by this but I know some people would be deterred by that.
[name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is stunning - definitely my favourite, followed by [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]!
I feel like [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] does work with [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] and [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m], but on my own list I was looking at pairing it with [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f], [name_f]Marisol[/name_f], [name_f]Desiree[/name_f], [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] and [name_f]Valerie[/name_f].
To me [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] seems extremely Catholic, especially with [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] as a sibling. I also think of [name_f]Madonna[/name_f]'s daughter [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_m]Leon[/name_m]. It’s not a name that appeals to me personally but I do think it has a nice sound. I like many of your combinations, especially [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Amabel[/name_f].
From the combos you’ve suggested the one that stands out the most is [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] (it might be a bit more clunky but it’s sweet), [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], and [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f].
From your sibling name suggestions these are my favorites:
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Avril[/name_f]
I like your suggestions of [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] (it’s on the list! :D), [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Oceane[/name_f] (I’d probably spell it [name_u]Ocean[/name_u]), [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], and [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]!
It’s great you think [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] and [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] work as siblings for [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f].
I enjoy these suggestions:
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f] - but it might feel a bit too modern next to [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f], if that makes sense.
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]
[name_f]Alba[/name_f]
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] - I tend to prefer [name_f]Magdalen/name_f but [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] is beautiful.
[name_f]Leontine[/name_f]
[name_f]Arcadia[/name_f]
@wittyusername103 & @greyblue - I’ve responded to you all as well, the post just took a few extra minutes and so it has to be approved by a mod.
I’m not very religious but it’s not a bother that the name is primarily used by Catholics. Thank you for pointing it out though, just in case.
I think [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is my favorite at the moment as well!
I’m glad you think it goes well with [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] and [name_f]Ursula[/name_f]. I agree that [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] works well with [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f], [name_f]Marisol[/name_f], [name_f]Desiree[/name_f], [name_f]Veronica[/name_f], and [name_f]Valerie[/name_f]! They’re not my style but I would love to see them used by someone else.
That’s a good point! [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] is an honoring name and I hadn’t consider how it might sound very religious with [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f].
I’m glad you still liked a few of my combos. Thanks!
[name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] is very much a Latina or Spanish name to me. I would be surprised to see it on someone who didn’t have that heritage. It’s pretty though. My favorites of your combos are [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f].
As someone from a majorly catholic country, [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] to me is very religious and “old nun” like name. But it also reminds me of [name_f]Madonna[/name_f]'s daughter, [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Lola[/name_f]. [name_f]Lola[/name_f] makes it feel ligther for me.
My favorite [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] combos would be [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u], [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]!
I think [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] and [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] could work very well with [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f].
Since I have many friends that are bold namers and use very cool Catholic names I wouldn’t be surprised to meet siblings [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] and [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] but I would be wondering I just hadn’t heard of an important saint named [name_f]Ursula[/name_f].
[name_m]Will[/name_m] you or your child likely be around many french speaking communities? [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] is french for heavy. It’s only a connection that would be made by french speakers, obviously, but it’s worth considering if you think you’ll find yourself in [name_m]French[/name_m] areas!
I think of it more in terms of a religious name but I can definitely understand where you’re coming from given that the majority of the use of the name has been Latinx or Spanish.
I love [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] too. I have a thing for those strong, simple, unfrilly Spanish names: [name_u]Carmen[/name_u], [name_f]Pilar[/name_f], [name_f]Belen[/name_f], [name_m]Sol[/name_m], [name_f]Inez[/name_f]…
[name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] works well with [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] and [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] — all strong, edgy-traditional, clunky yet cool — but I agree that the trio comes off as very Catholic. Not a bad thing, of course, but it depends what you’re going for.
I think in general I prefer slightly longer, more traditional names with [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f], but I really like the alliteration of [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f].
I don’t mind the “old nun” impression, I’m very fond of these women and their dedication to their beliefs. [name_f]Lola[/name_f] is a great nickname for [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f]! I had [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] in mind, myself. It definitely turns back the clock on the name for me. I’m also happy to hear you like my combos and that [name_f]Ursula[/name_f] and [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] might work as siblings to a [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f]!
You’ve completely outdone yourself with the list!
These really stand out to me:
[name_f]Ines[/name_f]
[name_f]Amalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eugenia[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonore[/name_f]
[name_f]Aida[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Muriel[/name_f]
[name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f]
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]
[name_m]Lazarus[/name_m]
[name_m]Balthazar[/name_m]
[name_m]Lucian[/name_m]
[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m]
[name_m]Edgar[/name_m]
[name_m]Augustus[/name_m]
[name_m]Aurelius[/name_m] - I adore this name!
[name_m]Amadeo[/name_m]
[name_m]Jonas[/name_m]
[name_m]Rafael[/name_m]
[name_m]Xavier[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_m]Leonard[/name_m]
I think the predominant image of the name and then the potential sibling names I have in mind is Catholic. It’s not really what I’m going for but I don’t mind the image much. I’d rather them be recognized for saints names than I would for some negative reason.
I enjoy the alliteration of [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] myself. I think it adds something to it.
Fantastic middle suggestions!
These stand out to me:
[name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Ottoline[/name_f] - [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] is forever a love of mine in the middle but [name_f]Ottoline[/name_f] is sweet.
[name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Helena[/name_f] - [name_f]Helena[/name_f] is a sweet, simple middle. Very pretty.
[name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] - I like [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] was a nickname for [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] but that would seal it.
[name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] - I had this on my list! I thought that [name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] and a [name_f]Mary[/name_f] name might be too much but I love the name.
[name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Lourdes[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
