Love it or Hate it: Griffin

It seems like the feedback we’re getting on [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] is totally either “love it”, or “that’s so nerdy”! I definitely like classic solid names, but want something a little less common this time around. We have a [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m] & I still love his name.
Am I totally crazy for liking [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]?! I just don’t want to give my kid a name he hates :see_no_evil:

I love the name [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]! With [name_u]Finn[/name_u] being a super popular name, i don’t think a [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] would suffer  No worries!

I really like it! I find it very handsome and wearable!

I love it! I don’t find it nerdy at all! [name_m]Griff[/name_m] and [name_u]Finn[/name_u] make great nicknames as well, but I love [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] in full!

I love it. I find it’s a more wearable Welsh name than a lot of them. I don’t think it’s nerdy in the slightest, and you can’t go wrong with [name_u]Finn[/name_u] as a nickname.

I fall somewhere in between. I love the idea of the name and would think its cool on another kid, but would probably never give it to my child. I will say if you love it go for it, I think its a really cool name!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it! It’s one of my top 5 favorites. I don’t get the nerdy comments.

[name_u]Love[/name_u], love, love. No doubt about it.

I love it too. My boys are [name_m]Reuben[/name_m] and [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] and if I ever had another son [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] would be on the shortlist. It’s a great name!

So I never hear anyone else bring this up regarding this name, but a [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] is a mythological monster and that’s all I can think of when I hear this name. I get the appeal of the sound, but I just can’t stop thinking of a cannibalistic lion-eagle.

[name_u]LOVE[/name_u]. It’s is nerdy but in a geek-chic/old-man vintage kind of way. It’s perfect with [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. And I agree [name_u]Finn[/name_u] as a potential nickname makes it even cooler. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Knox[/name_m] is so cute by the way!

So scratch what I said earlier, my husband likes it and [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]/[name_m]Griffon[/name_m] is officially in the first draft of our list!

I think [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] goes nicely with [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. It’s a good, solid name.

[name_f]Susan[/name_f]

I’m sure he won’t hate his name if you go with [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]. It’s not really my cup of tea but it’s a perfectly ‘normal’ and fairly popular name and he won’t have any trouble with it, don’t worry.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] together!
Could name this one [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] [name_m]Bronx[/name_m], [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] [name_u]Lennox[/name_u] or [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] [name_m]Felix[/name_m]!

I love this name! Not nerdy at all to me

NOT a monster…

The griffin, griffon, or gryphon is a legendary creature with the body, tail, and back legs of a lion; the head and wings of an eagle; and an eagle’s talons as its front feet. Because the lion was traditionally considered the king of the beasts and the eagle the king of birds, the griffin was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature. The griffin was also thought of as king of all creatures. Griffins are known for guarding treasure and priceless possessions

I love [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and with the NN [name_m]Fin[/name_m] he should fit in with the name [name_u]Finn[/name_u] being quite popular.
I also love imagery I get from the name the myth creature and I also get wavy sea at dusk imagery.

[name_m]Griffin[/name_m] isn’t my style but I think it’s a handsome name. I went to school with a boy named [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and he’s one of the few old classmates whose name I still remember because it stood out to me (in a good way!).

You are not crazy for liking [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]! It’s not a name I would ever personally use, but it’s a perfectly fine name and if you love it, use it!
