Loving Enid...Opinions on my new name crush?

[name]Enid[/name] seems like the perfect name to me right now. In my area it would get a few odd looks though. What is your opinion? Any middle name suggestions? A longer middle name would flow best I think.

I taught an [name]Enid[/name] who just graduated this spring. She was such a sweet student. She was my not so secret favorite. That’s the image I have in my mind of [name]Enid[/name].

I love [name]Enid[/name]!

[name]Enid[/name] [name]Briallen[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Olympia[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Araceli[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Cosima[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Callista[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Tamsin[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Marcella[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Carolina[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Marina[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Penelope[/name]

I love [name]Enid[/name]! It’s one of the yet to be discovered names that’s unique with being weird and also has some gravity to it.

What’s your surname like in terms of first initial and syllable count? You wouldn’t want initials that spell anything with little [name]Enid[/name] like EAT or [name]ELM[/name]. To have a less monotone sound ideally you should consider differing syllable counts for each part of the name so it sounds less 2-2-2 and more 2-3-1 or 2-1-3.

I often suggest middle names should have meaning or what’s the point. You could use it honor a friend or family member with a longer syllable name like Aunt [name]Adrienne[/name] or such. Another way could be a more daring choice that you’re hesitant to use as a first but in love with like [name]Enid[/name] [name]Juniper[/name]. You could use it to honor your cultural, religious, ethnic, or other heritage like using [name]Enid[/name] [name]Paloma[/name] if you had Latino ancestry. Middle names are where you have the most fun!

In the end, I totally love [name]Enid[/name]. You’ll be eclectic from kindergarten well into her graduating class and on her wedding announcements.

To be honest, I can’t really wrap my head around [name]Enid[/name]. However, I [name]DO[/name] appreciate that it’s unique and off-the-beaten-path! I think [name]Enid[/name] would be best paired with something very feminine. [name]Enid[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name], [name]Enid[/name] [name]Susannah[/name], [name]Enid[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]?

It’s one I’ve never considered, but it definitely fits all my criteria! I’m a new fan!

It’s not my favorite, I’m afraid. It sounds like a kind of insect to me. [name]Enid[/name], Aphid, Earwig…It seems like a harsh name to bestow upon a young girl, along the lines of [name]Edna[/name] and [name]Eunice[/name]. Plus, there’s likely to be pronunciation issues (EH-nid, etc.). I’d probably pick something more like [name]Eluned[/name], [name]Eudora[/name] or [name]Glynis[/name].
That being said, here are some middle names that could soften out [name]Enid[/name]:
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Mirielle[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Florentine[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Bluebell[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Alenna[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]May[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Sienna[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Lucille[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Fiammetta[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Azalea[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Arielle[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Florence[/name]
[name]Enid[/name] [name]Rosetta[/name]

What she said! It’s exciting to find a new name that YOU love though!

I’m going to have to be another to agree. I do think my opinion would change if I met a little [name]Enid[/name]. I just can’t picture it right now! I also don’t exactly love the sounds.

I love it! [name]Kinda[/name] falls in the category of ugly-cute granny name for me, but in the very best way possible.

The name has been growing on me lately as I know an [name]Enid[/name] (in her 70s probably) who is just the nicest woman. The name always reminds me of this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28oxinZmrW0

I think you’re likely to get a few looks, but with [name]Edith[/name] growing in popularity and old lady names coming back in style, [name]Enid[/name] is totally usable. I’d use a softer middle name like [name]Anastasia[/name], [name]Victoria[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], etc…

Sorry for the late reply but I’ve read everyone’s suggestions, thank you very much for them.

Basicsand- [name]Love[/name] your insight, and love the idea that she will be eclectic from kindergarten to wedding announcements!

Exactly what Bibliophile said. Also there’s something about [name]Enid[/name] that makes me want to read it backwards? I literally cannot explain this and don’t laugh at me but I always feel like its a code word or something that must be read backward or it’s an anagram. I know it’s ‘[name]Dine[/name]’ backward, but shrug maybe I’m weird.
