I honestly wouldn’t have seen the Volkswagen link with her initials unless you pointed it out. Also I very rarely write my initials on things and when I do I usually use the first letter of my first, middle, and last name, which would completely negate the VW association for your daughter. If you love [name_f]Violet[/name_f], I would say go for it. I think it will be rare for anyone to make the connection.
It would be one thing if the initials were POO or ZIT, but VCW/VEW are completely innocuous and VW is actually kind of cute! You could call her Bug or Beetle. There are definitely worse associations to have.
My daughter’s initials are PPZ, which gave me a lot of anxiety until I asked several people what they thought before she was born. Only had two out of dozens even notice the PP. Most just said, “what’s wrong with PZ?” because most people only use first and last initials. [name_m]Long[/name_m] story short, I don’t think many people care about initials much.
Both of those are such lovely names! I don’t think the Volkswagen is a problem (I didn’t notice until you pointed it out), and VW actually sounds pretty cute as an option for a nickname.
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and I find the initials VW to be a bonus! I love the suggestion of VW being your lil bug - such a positive spin absolutely go for it - [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is precious
Some car guys may make some “smart” comments eventually, but honestly that’s not an association that I would drop a beloved name over. Like previous commenters, avoid initials like POO or thing like that. My maiden initials were HB and I got called pencil girl once or twice, no big deal
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all!!! Thank you so much for voting in the poll and for all of your comments! So far everyone that has voted thinks VW is just fine for initials which is really nice to see.
I laughed out loud when I read the response that mentioned POO or ZIT as no-no’s for initials. Ha! Agreed!
I also didn’t pick up on the PP part of PPZ (it just fondly made me think of pizza and wonder what could be wrong with PPZ as initials ).
Anyway, thanks again for the feedback! [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f] has taken the top spot in my mind for our daughter, and with only 6 weeks to go that’s huge!
I was starting to feel a little down that I was struggling to find a name that I loved as much as my son’s name, so it feels good to land on something that could be the right fit! Now, I just need to convince my husband (fingers crossed!!!) He still favors an earlier favorite…[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]… also gorgeous, and a name that I love, but something didn’t feel quite right… So we’ll see… We’re trying both names on for size just chatting around the house so time will tell what clicks, and the final decision will likely be made when we meet her in [name_f]May[/name_f]!
Also just in case anyone is reading this and is curious, my son’s name is [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] [name_m]John[/name_m]. [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] was just easy for my husband and I… we both liked it and agreed on it pretty much immediately so we had our name picked out early in the 2nd trimester. [name_m]John[/name_m], like [name_f]Christine[/name_f], is a family name so that was easy too. Not so much this time around though… [name_f]Every[/name_f] girls name I loved he seemed not to like, so it’s great to get to a place where we have two really strong contenders. Thanks again! You guys TOTALLY helped!!
I wouldn’t have noticed the VW connection at all, & like others I love the old “Bugs” (& the new ones too) & find the combination cute. For the most part initials tend to be used from all of a person’s names, at least in my experience, so a letter between V & W would negate even the slightest thought of the car company. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f] & [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are both gorgeous combinations!
