I originally found “Loxley” posted as a boy name, but as I search it seems to be listed more with girl names. We would be using the shortened version of “Lox” most of the time, so that makes it feel more masculine to me. I just don’t want to use a name that people will assume to be a female name.
What do you think? Does it lean one way or more gender neutral?
That name sounds SO masculine to me - especially the nickname Lox. It reminds me of [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], which is definitely a boy’s name. I wouldn’t question it!
Loxley is badass! I automatically think of old-timey English names. Maybe a Downton [name_u]Abbey[/name_u] type of vibe? But that’s an awesome name, & Lox is a cute NN
It makes me think of [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood, so it rings clearly masculine for me It also reminds me of Loxias, one of [name_m]Apollo[/name_m]'s epithets that I adore. Lox is an awesome nickname, I say go for it! Would love to meet a little boy called Loxley ^^
I actually lean more towards feminine for this one. I guess “lox” reminds me of long locks of hair, or of Goldylocks. Weird, I know, but I can’t shake those connotations. I wouldn’t consider them negative, but it is what I first thought of.
I don’t see why it would not work. Loxley doesn’t have a super strong background/history that clearly defines it as boy or girl, it’s not a common name for girls, it sounds like Oxley, a boy name, and Lox sounds like [name_m]Fox[/name_m].
I really like it!
