We only have a little time before the twins arrival. They’re most likely twin girls but there’s still a small chance of being otherwise.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer the boy & girl twin pairing:
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] & [name_f]Luna[/name_f]
or
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] & [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] family is a bit split on this.
They’re twins so we want their names to go well together.
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] & [name_f]Luna[/name_f] sound better together.
But [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] & [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is easier to say.
It’s probably because of the “-ca” sound at the end of [name_u]Luca[/name_u].
We’ve also thought about [name_u]Luca[/name_u] & [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] but weren’t a huge fan about that pairing.
But what’s your favorite pairing? And what’s the reason behind it?
Truthfully, the names are a little too matchy for me, but [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] are better overall. I think [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] are a little too close since they’re only one letter off, and will be very confusing.
Although [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] are only one letter apart, they feel more distinct to me than [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. Since [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] both share the [name_m]Luc[/name_m]- beginning and have ss sounds, they feel a bit like variants of the same name (though they have distinct origins). I also think [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] are both really fun, bouncy names that do sound great together! So [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] gets my vote.
Would you be open to mix & matching? I think [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] would be lovely.
Lucy is literally the feminine form of Lucas and I cannot unsee that. It is so obvious for me (like Joseph and Josephine). So I rather do Luca and Luna.
Other suggestions:
Luca(s) and Laura

I like [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] a lot more as names, but I think they’re just way too similar - to the point where it feels cheesy and impractical (just in my opinion!). So I like [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] better! Although if I could mix and match, I’d like [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] & [name_f]Luna[/name_f] the most.
Although twins I’d personally consider finding names that aren’t such replicas of one another. There’s other ways to have them “go together” without being so similar which being twins they’ll be referred as such often which makes them having distinct identities all the more important
I feel like Luca and Luna would be mixed together and tricky to call out (ie if you wanted Luna, and called for her, Luca very well may come). It doesn’t make them unusable, I just personally find Lucy and Lucas more distinct visually and when said aloud.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] separately. [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is nice. [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] is not my style. I don’t love any of them together especially for twins.
I agree with above - maybe Lucas and Luna - just so they don’t have the exact same meaning (Lucy and Lucas) and such similar sounds (Luna and Luca). Having said that I prefer Lucy over Luna so it’s really only just that they have the same meaning - Lucas and Lucy - that I’m unsure. Lucas and Lucy will age better I think, than Luca and Luna. What about Leo and Lucy instead?
Take or leave: I’m a twin, and I have to say that I am not a big fan of matchy twin names - though especially when they’re the same sex (less an issue when boy/girl twins as they have so many obvious differences). Twins already see themselves as part of a zero sum game - where if one twin is for eg labelled by the parents or others as the sporty one, the other thinks they may as well not try in that area. Similarly with any labels. It’s hard being a twin at times, being connected so much to one person (it can be a lot of pressure!) as much as it is beautiful and sacred as well. So like I said, especially if they’re same sex twins, I would strongly consider not having matchy names - complementary/ similar style but not matchy-matchy.
That’s not true though. Lucy (Lucia) is a feminine form of Lucius, meaning “light.” Lucas means “from Lucania.” The etymology of the place name is uncertain.
That being said, I agree they are still way too similar visually and phonetically to be used for siblings, twins or not.
I agree with the others that the names are too close. That being said I love [name_u]Luca[/name_u] for a boy or girl. I also like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] for a girl. I think using the same letter is fine but I would change the names so they aren’t so similar.
girls:
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Liv[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Romy[/name_u]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Nelly[/name_u]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Chloe[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Indy[/name_u]
boys:
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_u]Levi[/name_u]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_u]Layne[/name_u]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_u]Landon[/name_u]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_u]Lyle[/name_u]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_u]Leo[/name_u]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_u]Ezra[/name_u]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_u]Miles[/name_u]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
This is very cute! I actually don’t like the name [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], because personally every [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] I’ve met has been really weird, but I love [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] so I would say [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] but prefer [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] tho they don’t have the same feel
