Lucia or Luciana?

Were expecting a mystery gendered baby any day now, and our boy name is set, but we can’t agree on our girl name combo and have left it up in the air!

We decided on [name]Lucia[/name] for her first name, but thought of [name]Luciana[/name] and like that also (dad likes it a little better). So it would come down to what we would decide for the middle name, which would either be [name]Martha[/name] or [name]Yvonne[/name] (my moms first and middle names)

[name]Lucia[/name] [name]Martha[/name] (worried that this seems short)
[name]Luciana[/name] [name]Martha[/name]

[name]Lucia[/name] [name]Yvonne[/name]
[name]Luciana[/name] [name]Yvonne[/name]
(worried about tongue twisty vowel sounds)

last name very similar to Soprano

any thoughts appreciated!

I prefer the name [name]Lucia[/name] much more than [name]Luciana[/name] which is overly frilly for my taste. The flow depends on how you’re going to pronounce them: Italian loo-CHEE-ah, Spanish loo-SEE-ah or like the Caribbean island loo-sha. I think [name]Yvonne[/name] may be a better option in the middle spot because I’m not too crazy about either name paired with [name]Martha[/name] (too many a’s). Good luck, [name]Mischa[/name]!

Hmm, this is a dilemma indeed. I much prefer [name]Lucia[/name], but I like the way the middle name options sound with [name]Luciana[/name] better than with [name]Lucia[/name]. Which pronunciation of [name]Lucia[/name] are you planning to use?

thanks for the input! We are going with Loo-see-a for pronounciation.

[name]Luciana[/name] IS quite a princess-y name :?

[name]Lucia[/name] [name]Yvonne[/name] is lovely! The vowels do run together a wee bit, but I don’t think it’s much of an issue. I like the flow better than [name]Lucia[/name] [name]Martha[/name]. [name]Luciana[/name] is a little too frilly for my taste. [name]Lucia[/name] is so feminine and beautiful on its own without needing an extra syllable added on, [name]IMO[/name]!

Definitely [name]Lucia[/name]. And I love [name]Lucia[/name] [name]Yvonne[/name].

[name]Luciana[/name] is also on my list, so I’m a bit biased. I’m researching spellings at the moment though, because I want the “[name]Lucy[/name]-ana” pronounciation and everyone I’ve asked so far has pronounced it “[name]Lu[/name]-chee-ana”

So my choice would be [name]Luciana[/name]
