[name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce the name [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]? And does anybody know the proper pronunciation, if there is one?
I say [name_f]Lu[/name_f]-see-uh, because I can’t stand the ‘shuh’ sound in [name_f]Lu[/name_f]-shuh (or in a lot of other names). I think both are valid though.
There are 3 correct pronunciations: Loo-see-ah, Loo-chee-ah, and Loo-sha.
I prefer Loo-sha. It’s a great name!
We’re Italian and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] is my sister’s name and we pronounce it [name_f]Lu[/name_f]-chee-uh.
I will say that it is the most uncommon spelling in the States because my sister is constantly called [name_f]Lu[/name_f]-see-uh or [name_f]Lu[/name_f]-sha. She use to correct everyone, but grew tired of it, so she answers to any of these pronounciations, and asks them to call her [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].
Loo-see-ah, Loo-chee-ah, and Loo-sha are all correct. I originally use Loo-see-ah (the pronunciation used in my area), but I kinda like Loo-chee-ah more lately.
