Update: I’ve chosen Lucian.
What are your thoughts on Lucian?
Which one do you prefer? Why? [name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] and [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]?
I’ve seen [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] with the pronunciations LOO-shən and LOO-see-en. Are they both correct?
Unless you’re [name_m]French[/name_m], I would choose the [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] spelling. I pronounce it with two syllables (LOO-shin like the end of solution). Some cultures pronounce it with three syllables so I believe both are acceptable.
I actually like the look of [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] better, but think it would make more sense to use [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]. I used [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] as a middle in my book, but if I were using it in real life, I’d use [name_m]Lucian[/name_m].
I say it loo-shin but it’s sort of between the two. I saw it sort of like loo-sheein. Like the shee is really fast and blended in. If that makes sense.
I say LOO-see-uhn for both spellings, find [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] more usable and actually prefer it to [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] (I’m an -ian ending fan though - see [name_m]Christian[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]/[name_m]Bastian[/name_m], [name_m]Julian[/name_m] etc.!)
I like the [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] spelling better, but [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] is fine.
My personal pronunciation is your second one, “loo-see-en”, but now that I’m saying it out loud to myself, it’s almost more like “loo-syen” - kind of blurring those last two syllables together.
If you search [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] or [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] here on Nameberry, you should find a couple similar threads with more opinions. I love both spellings and like both pronunciations; I lean toward pronouncing [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] as LOO-shin and [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] as LOO-see-ehn, and I do think from reading similar threads that this is fairly widespread, though it would be considered acceptable by most people to pronounce either one either way. [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] is the [name_m]French[/name_m] spelling and should authentically be pronounced more like loo-see-AHN, I believe.
I’m not sure I have a preference in spelling or pronunciation! I can go either way. I tend to gravitate toward “loo-see-en” but when I say it aloud I feel a little silly… and it that pronunciation wouldn’t fly in the south (where I live). When I say it the other way, it comes out more like “Looshen” or even “Looshun”

I don’t know that they’re actually supposed to be pronounced any differently, but this is my instinct. Maybe I assume a [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] comes from a language background that would give his name three syllables whereas I’d think a [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] was an English speaker? I’ll have to think about it.
I did search both names on Nameberry, but they are all at least six months old and I wanted fresh opinions.
I think both are legit, just like loo-shuh and loo-see-uh for [name_f]Lucia[/name_f].
I’ve decided to go with [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]. It’ officially on my list. 
As already mentioned, I say [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] as Loo-see-en and [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] as “Loo-shen”. I prefer [name_m]Lucian[/name_m].
I love [name_m]Lucian[/name_m], but only when it’s pronounced (Loo-sea-un), I really hate it when it’s pronounced with two syllables.
