I voted loo-shun. It seems like the general public says [name]Lucian[/name] as loo-shun and [name]Lucien[/name] as loo-see-en.

I say Loo-shun. The Loose-ee-in pronunciation reminds me unfavourably of [name]Lucifer[/name] or something. :confused:

I prn either spelling as Loo-shun, but I think it probably depends on where you come from. I’m thinking people in the UK and Europe would be more likely to say Loose-ian, and people on this side of the pond would more likely say Loo-shun? I’m sure there are exceptions to each, but that’s my guess.

I am English and pronounce it Loose-ee-en whcich is closest to your Loose/[name]Ian[/name] so I voted for that.

I live in the States, and say it as loo-shun. To me [name]Lucien[/name] is more akin to loo-see-en.

I agree with the [name]Lucian[/name]=Loo-shen and [name]Lucien[/name]=Loose-ian assumptions. My best friend has a son named [name]Lucian[/name] (here in the US) and it’s pronounced Loo-shen.

I always thought it was Looch-ian.

Looshen in the US and Looseian in the UK…just depends on where you are from. It’s my favorite name and I hope I’m brave enough to use it someday!

Pick the one you like better! I am American, so I think Loo-shen, but I prefer Loose-ee-in. I know a [name]Lucia[/name] who goes by Loo-sha and I can’t help feel it was a missed opportunity.

I immediately think of [name]Lucian[/name] Freud, pronounced Loo-shen. I also know a [name]Lucia[/name], pro. Loo-shah.
