I say [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] as 2. I know a little [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] who goes by [name_m]Luc[/name_m] and it’s adorable. [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] I would say 3 syllables
I say it with three syllables. I really don’t like the LOO-shun pronunciation. It sounds too much like “Delusion” for me. Current general location would be the northeast coast of the States.
[name_m]Lucian[/name_m] = loo-shun
[name_m]Lucien[/name_m] = loo-see-en
[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this name. I say both spellings (-an and -en) as Loo-see-n. I’m in [name_u]Texas[/name_u], but I’ve never met a [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]/[name_m]Lucien[/name_m] in person—my pronunciation comes from characters in a couple of TV shows.
I say Loo-see-un and I reside in Midwest [name_u]America[/name_u]. Honestly though, I’ve heard and enjoyed both pronunciations. I’ve seen [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] on Shadowhunters recently, so that’s pretty neat!
Good luck!
Instinctively, I use three syllables, but I actually prefer [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] with two and [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] with three.
I’m from [name_f]England[/name_f] and I say “loo-shun”.
Id say it loo-shun and I’m in Aus.
When I hear [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] spoken as two syllables I just think of the word “lotion”…
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the three-syllable pronunciation though!
I guess it depends on where you live, I’ve personally never heard it pronounces with two syllables in real life, maybe on foreign made shows, but not on an actual person.
I actually say it somewhere between the two, like loo-she-un? I’m from the UK
I don’t think it makes too much of a difference where you live, because I think many, like me, will have never met a [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] in real life. I’ve only heard the name on television or in film, and based on that exposure, I pronounce it with two syllables.
