[name_m]How[/name_m] do we feel about [name_m]Ludo[/name_m]? I don’t really like [name_m]Ludovic[/name_m], just [name_m]Ludo[/name_m]. It’s a less than awesome [name_m]Harry[/name_m] potter character reference, but I don’t have any other associations with it, and I’m kind of loving it for some reason… just looking for thoughts?
It makes me think of this character too. I’m not a fan, I’m afraid.
@handsallover
Yeah he’s not great. But he’s such a minor character that it isn’t bothering me.
It’s unique. In Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian “[name_m]Ludo[/name_m]” means crazy. It wouldn’t work in our house…
I just think of the board game. And then the HP character.
@jackal
I’ve never even heard of the board game… good to know!
Sounds like a board game?
It makes me think of Labyrinth, and then of the band.
I don’t think it’s unusable necessarily, but I’m just not a huge fan of its sound personally.
@sansavespar
I’ve never heard of the band either. But that’s fair. I have this problem where I love every long U sound name…
I love [name_m]Ludo[/name_m]! It sounds adorable and makes me smile, it had been on my boy name list for a while before my husband nixed it.
Short names ending in O are a growing fashion for boys’ names, so I don’t think [name_m]Ludo[/name_m] would sound odd or out of place on the playground with [name_m]Milo[/name_m], [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u], and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]. I can definitely see the appeal.
It makes me think of the adorable but kind of dumb character from The Labyrinth
I love [name_m]Ludovic[/name_m], I do associate it with the boardgame but I find it really handsome, I read it in a book and the character was pretty cool so that’s probably why the other connections don’t annoy me.
I like [name_m]Ludovic[/name_m] a lot. It makes me think of a musician with that name, as well as someone my father-in-law used to work with in Europe who went by ‘[name_m]Ludo[/name_m]’.
I was just about to comment this. As a native Croatian speaker, I cam only think of the word “crazy” when I hear/see this name. It’s a no from me, unfortunately.
This is my association: “[name_m]Ludo[/name_m] fwend”
It’s not my favourite, but I think it’s wearable, especially for a little boy. I agree that it would fit right in with the other short, bouncy, o-ending names that are popular for boys at the moment.
I personally think it sounds a little bit too kooky and childish… maybe even a bit canine? I like the sound of it, so I think these feelings must stem from my immediate associations of Bagshawe and the board game.
Makes me think of the little bird villain from [name_f]Star[/name_f] vs. the Forces of Evil on Disney XD, but that’s probably because I have two younger sisters and babysit two little boys, so I’m sure no one else would think of that. The bird is kinda ugly and gross though, so I don’t like the association.
@katinka
I also like bruno haha, but that one feels super canine to me
