I have fallen for the name [name_f]Luella[/name_f]. It’s a bit different, so I’m unsure how others will react, but I’m interested in opinions and suggestions.
Trying to pair it with a middle name. Our surname is a three-syllable name, starting with a [name_f]MAY[/name_f] sound.
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] was one idea I had ([name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is one of the names we like for a first name too), but they both have an [name_f]EL[/name_f] sound in them and it’s kind of rhymey, which I’m not sure I like.
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is another I like.
Open to all styles of names, however we like classic sounding names, or names that are a bit different to the norm.
I like [name_f]Luella[/name_f] too. I’ve seen it around Nameberry.
Personally, I think two sound in common are too much. But not one - in fact, I like for the first and middle to have one sound in common.
If that still bothers you, perhaps try [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]?
Other ideas:
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] ([name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is in your sig., and I think it would be fine too)
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] (can’t keep myself from suggesting [name_u]Artemis[/name_u], I love it so much right now)
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] / [name_f]Joan[/name_f]
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Luella[/name_f]! I first came across it when a recording artist I love named his first daughter [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] after his grandma who had passed away fairly recently. She’s quite adorable, and she makes it totally wearable. It’s so unusual and vintagey and sweet, and yet it fits completely with all the [name_f]Lu[/name_f]- names in season ([name_f]Lucia[/name_f]! [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]! [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]! [name_f]Luna[/name_f]!) and all the [name_f]Ella[/name_f]/[name_f]Elle[/name_f] names ([name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f], [name_f]Arielle[/name_f], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], etc., etc.!). I would love to meet a little [name_f]Luella[/name_f]. When it was on my list briefly, my combo was [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], which I still sort of like (although I prefer [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]). From your combos, I like [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] the best, but I like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Luella[/name_f] more, personally.
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] sounds good to me. It’s not like the baby is going to use her full name all the time.
[name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is great too.
I’d also suggest [name_f]Luella[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. I’ve always liked the combo of a FN ending in ‘ella’ and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] as a middle.
I just named my 5 day old daughter [name_f]Luella[/name_f] pearl! I absolutely love the name and have only heard how beautiful and pretty it is from friends and strangers.
Her nickname is lulu
