I really like the name [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] for a girl, but I also really want to use the nickname [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] the two go together? Or is that too much of a stretch?
They seem like entirely different names. I like both of them, but I don’t think you can get [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] from [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. If you used a middle like [name_f]Louise[/name_f] or [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] could definitely be a possible nickname.
Thanks, that really helped!
I agree - I don’t see how [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] could come from [name_f]Isabella[/name_f].
I don’t see how you could possibly get [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] from [name_f]Isabella[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]!
I agree that I don’t “see” [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] for [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], but I think some people use nns not related to their child’s name at all (I remember reading about one member of Nameberry, years ago, who had a [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] who went by the nn [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]), so you could make it work if you wanted, but I wouldn’t expect people to “get” that [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]'s full name is [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. I guess you could do something like [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Louisa[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], etc. and that way you’d still get [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f].
Good luck!
Not really - could you try [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], or [name_f]Louise[/name_f]?
[name_f]Talullah[/name_f] and [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] can both get to the nickname [name_f]Lulu[/name_f].
Not so much [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f].
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] would be super cute as sisters though, [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] and [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] or [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] and [name_f]Belle[/name_f]
I don’t see a connection at all between the two, but I don’t see why that’d be a problem. I think nicknames that come out of the blue are the best of them and definitely give something more of a spunk to someone. I know of a guy everyone call Pupy, even though his name is [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], just because. I aso know of [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] nicknamed Visa
You’ll probably be met with a lot of blank stares if you introduce your daughter as “[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], but we call her [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]”. If you don’t find that a problem, really want to use [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] and don’t like any [name_f]Lu[/name_f]- names, I say go for it
I think [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]LuLu[/name_f] totally work together!! My first name is [name_u]Leslie[/name_u] mn starts with an M, and people called me [name_f]LuLu[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f] growing up! I think [name_f]LuLu[/name_f] is a sweet variation instead of just [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] or [name_f]Belle[/name_f]
Totally different in my opinion. I wouldn’t make the connection.
Not at all. They’re completely different names, sorry.
I’m afraid I can’t quite see the link…?
I don’t think you need a link. Call her [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] if you like.
Unfortunately, [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] just don’t work. They just aren’t closely related enough.
My personal favorite nickname for [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is [name_u]Izzy[/name_u]. Sweet for the girly girl, spunky for a tomboy yet still has [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] to for the studious, serious book lover.
there is no obvious link, but then again my friend [name_f]Samantha[/name_f]'s nn is [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]. She said it started when she was little her mom would call her [name_m]Samy[/name_m]-Whamy-[name_f]Lulu[/name_f] and it was eventually shortened to [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]. (her dad also calls her [name_f]Grace[/name_f] because she’s clumsy.)
