Lunabella is the name of an EXTREMELY well known adult performer in the latino community. It’s actually [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Bella[/name_f], and pronounced as [name_f]Luna[/name_f] Beia instead o Lunabela, but still, if you google the name you’ll see what I’m talking about. [name_f]Every[/name_f] google result is about her.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] thought I might give you a heads up, since I’ve seen so much positivity for that name since it was picked at the invent-a-name game.
Would it bother you if you found out you child has the name of a pornstar?
It depends. If my daughter’s name was [name_f]Jenna[/name_f] and later found out about Ms. [name_u]Jameson[/name_u], then I wouldn’t be upset in the slightest, because the name isn’t famously tied to just her (like [name_m]Elvis[/name_m] and [name_f]Madonna[/name_f] are to their bearers). In the case of Lunabella or [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Bella[/name_f], I personally don’t know who that is, but if you are a member of the latino community and will be living with the latino community, then I think the name is a bit more problematic, mainly because you mentioned that she adult performer is so well known to that population. I think that would make the name unusable, honestly. [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] or [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] could be great alternatives!
I wouldn’t deliberately give my child a name that I knew was the name of a porn star. That being said, I didn’t know the association with Lunabella. However, I don’t know anything about porn stars or any names of porn stars, so if I inadvertently did so and realized later, I wouldn’t get overly worried about it.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you already have a daughter named Lunabella, or are you thinking of using the name?
If it’s a nickname that’s only going to be used at home (rather than something she would go by- Lunabella sounds a bit too cutesy to be an “everyday name” to me anyways), I think it’d be fine as long as you don’t feel uncomfortable with it yourself. Your daughter probably won’t know who that is!
Try not to worry about everything you see on Google- often the only reason people would know half the things you find is if they Googled it themselves, it isn’t usually common knowledge the way our brains trick us into thinking it is
You could definitely use [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and/or [name_f]Bella[/name_f] as separate nicknames, if you’re okay with her not having one established nickname.
I’m sure there are plenty of porn stars with nice names, so I wouldn’t let it bother me too much. I would never make the connection with Lunabella because I don’t know anything about porn. Personally, I think Lunabella is too silly to be versatile in the adult world.
I love [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and [name_f]Bella[/name_f], but Lunabella is way too cutesy and sugary, imo. Since I dunno the pornstar I don’t make the connection, but if it bothers you a lot then maybe it’s better to avoid that.
To be honest, Lunabella sounds like a pornstar or Disney character name ([name_m]Even[/name_m] before you drew my attention to the fact) (so so sorry to anyone crushing on it - but it’s reminiscent of Trixiebelle or other cutsie-smoosh names that just sort of lend themselves to being a cartoon character or a pornstar).
Having said that I love the name [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] despite the song, so in the end you go with whatever floats your boat, don’t you?
To me it depends on how unusual the name is. I’m sure there have been porn stars named [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], but those names are common enough to transcend any particular association. But if the name was unusual and the main thing that came up on a Google search of it was porn, then I would probably not use it. Though obviously if you had your child years ago and named her Lunabella before the porn star came along, then there’s not much you can do about it.
