What are your opinions on the name [name]Luther[/name]? This name has been in the back of my mind for years and atm I really like it! I love the name [name]Luke[/name] and have had it as a middle name for another boy name I love, but I saw a few different places that people named [name]Luther[/name] can go by the nickname [name]Luke[/name]. Would this be too much together? So it would be First-Name [name]Luke[/name] and [name]Luther[/name] Middle-Name. (I hope the way I explained that makes sense!)
Also, what about the combo [name]Luther[/name] [name]Amos[/name]? I asked about the name [name]Amos[/name] earlier, but I think I would rather use it as a middle name. I also like [name]Luther[/name] [name]Micah[/name].
I really like the name [name]Luther[/name]. It’s very handsome in an old fashioned sort of way. [name]Do[/name] you mean to ask if [name]Luke[/name] and [name]Luther[/name] could be siblings? Personally, I think it’s a bit much together, but if you’d like to do it, the feel free.
Neither of your combos are my style, but going by sound alone, they both sound great. [name]Luther[/name] [name]Amos[/name] sounds better than [name]Luther[/name] [name]Micah[/name].
I really like [name]Luther[/name] [name]Amos[/name] and [name]Luther[/name] [name]Micah[/name]. On their own merits, I think having a boy with the first name [name]Luther[/name] and a second boy with the middle name [name]Luke[/name] would work. But if you intend to call [name]Luther[/name] by the nn [name]Luke[/name], I would come up with another middle for the other boy.
Thanks for the reply dantea! No, I mean [name]Luke[/name] would be a middle name for one kid, then [name]Luther[/name] the first name for another. I wouldn’t intentially ever call [name]Luther[/name] “[name]Luke[/name]” so unless he were to start that he wouldn’t ever go by it.
Okay. Well, using [name]Luke[/name] as a middle name and [name]Luther[/name] for a first name doesn’t seem like a big deal to me. It could work perfectly fine. [name]Just[/name] be aware that other people might call [name]Luther[/name] “[name]Luke[/name]” or the one with [name]Luke[/name] as a middle name may decide to start going by [name]Luke[/name] one day.
I like [name]Luther[/name]! [name]Do[/name] you have [name]Martin[/name] [name]Luther[/name] in mind? I think [name]Luke[/name] as a middle name for one child and [name]Luther[/name] as a first name for another child is fine. [name]Luther[/name] [name]Amos[/name] is my favorite of your combos.
I am really very fond of [name]Amos[/name] and [name]Micah[/name], and [name]Luke[/name] is handsome, but [name]Luther[/name] is just plain ominous to me.
My 10 month old son’s name is [name]Luther[/name] [name]Wolf[/name]. We loved the name because:
Uncommon but well known
Easy to spell and pronounce
My hubby has [name]German[/name] heritage
Like the meaning of the name
Has a lot of good associations
Sounds badass and masculine, lol
I love the name, and I think using [name]Luther[/name] as a first name for one child while using [name]Luke[/name] as a middle name for another is fine.
@stripedsocks - just curious why you think it is creepy and ominous? I feel a little insulted.
I’m not a fan of [name]Luther[/name], it reminds me of the religion and [name]Martin[/name] [name]Luther[/name] [name]King[/name]. It’s also very close to [name]Lucifer[/name] in sound. I just don’t find it appealing, sorry.
I grew up Lutheran in a very Catholic environment so to me it’s very strongly related to [name]Martin[/name] [name]Luther[/name].
All that aside I think it has a nice strong sound and masculine ring to it. I can see why some think it sounds too much like [name]Lucifer[/name] but I think the associations with the translated bible really outweighs that. I don’t think most people would think of [name]Lucifer[/name] right away.
