Luxe or Luca?

Lately, I have been crushing on the name Lucania, besides Vespertine and [name_f]Capucine[/name_f]. Lucania is a place name, the ancient district in southern [name_f]Italy[/name_f] and is today a region called Basilicata. Lucania is derived from one of two sources:

Greek leukos, meaning "white or Latin word lucus, meaning "Sacred [name_m]Wood[/name_m] but
it also comes from the root of lux, meaning "light.

  • [name_m]How[/name_m] cute  would Luxe make for a shorter version of the name Lucania or would [name_u]Luca[/name_u] suite better as a nickname…Thoughts?

I prefer the nickname [name_u]Luca[/name_u] but you have to keep in mind that she will most likely be called [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] by others because that is the obvious nickname.

I can’t get on board with Lucania I’m afraid, as much as I like the sounds in the name (I love both [name_f]Ania[/name_f] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u], the latter on a boy). For me, Lucania feels far too much like [name_f]Luciana[/name_f] with the letters muddled up.

I see your points, thanks for your in sights. I’m still crushing on it though. I’ll have to mull it over some more. Perhaps, I may find other names that just might give me the chills like Lucania, [name_f]Capucine[/name_f], and Vespertine do.

I think [name_f]Lux[/name_f] is the better nickname. [name_u]Luca[/name_u] is just too masculine, [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
