There is something really appealing for me about this name. Ordinarily, if I didn’t know it had history, I might dismiss it as sounding trendy or slightly made-up, even. I like that it’s cute and distinctive, but I could actually picture it aging. What do you all think, are there some drawbacks or associations I should know about? The only thing I think of when looking at it is the word “maybe.”
Mabon is derived from Welsh mab meaning “son”. This was the name of an old Celtic god. [name]Mabyn[/name] means “youth” in Welsh. This was the name of an obscure 6th-century Welsh saint. She was one of the daughters of [name]Saint[/name] [name]Brychan[/name]. [name]Mabyn[/name] is also a place name in Cornwall, [name]England[/name]. This name is often used by Pagans and Wiccans for their children as it corresponds to the [name]Autumn[/name] Equinox. The [name]Mabyn[/name] spelling “looks” yooneek but it’s legitimate.
We’re going with an M theme for our kids, and I actually considered [name]Mabyn[/name] for this baby. I ended up taking it off the list though because all the websites and books say it means son or boy. I didn’t want to give my daughter a name that means that.
I love [name]Mabyn[/name]. [name]One[/name] of my favorite saints names.
It’s very pretty, but I prefer Mavy ( or Maevyn).
