General thoughts on Mackenzie for a girl nowadays?
I know it probably comes across as pretty dated now but being a 90s kid it was one of the first names I loved and wished I had myself haha. I know it means “son of” so a lot of namers don’t like it for a girl but I don’t really mind considering how established it is as a girl’s name now.
Mackenzie isn’t my typical naming style as my tastes have evolved over the years but I still have a soft spot for it so I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
I love the name [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u]! This spelling in particular. The sound is sharp and full of energy, and the nickname options are great (personally I love both Mac(k) and Kenzie). Plus the [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] [name_u]River[/name_u] in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] gives it a cool, natural feeling.
Yes, I definitely only like this spelling! I like [name_u]Mack[/name_u] as a nickname if it’s for a boy but I like [name_u]Kenzie[/name_u] more for a girl. I do agree it feels fun and sparky which is what I think draws me to it
I always thought [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] was a cute name, but I know/have known so many over the years that it does feel quite dated to my generation. (It honestly feels much fresher and more appealing on a boy nowadays, imho.) But, just as there was always the odd [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] among all the Olivias and Madisons and Hannahs, I think that there is a place for a [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] among the Amelias and Evelyns and Harpers! It has not fallen completely out of popularity yet, and, even if it had, it would by no means be unusable.
I don’t see anything wrong with it. Perfectly usable, even if it feels a little dated. I say, if you love it, who cares?
I chose [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] for my son, but he would have been [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] if he was a girl, I looovvveeee 90s names
