Maddalena?

What do you think about this name? Is it too much? I like the nn “[name_f]Alena[/name_f],” but I do not like [name_f]Maddie[/name_f].

If you don’t like [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] I’d choose something else.

I think [name_f]Maddalena[/name_f] is a lovely name, and very unusual outside of [name_f]Italy[/name_f].
Have you considered [name_f]Malena[/name_f] (ma-LAY-na) or just [name_f]Alena[/name_f]? Those would avoid the [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] nickname.

Would you consider [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]?

I love this name. I think [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] is avoidable if you use a different nickname (like [name_f]Alena[/name_f]) but if you plan on calling her by her full name only, she could end up a [name_f]Maddie[/name_f].

I think it’s pretty, but it would probably be shortened to [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] by other people. I like the name [name_f]Alena[/name_f] as a first name

Lovely name! I don’t think it’s too much. I think almost all nicknames are avoidable, so if you don’t want her to be called [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] & someone tries to call her that, you can just say “we use [name_f]Alena[/name_f] as a nickname” or something like that.

It is lovely, but I do agree with this as I think [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] will come naturally

I think it’s beautiful, but may avoid nickname [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] with [name_m]Mads[/name_m]. I wouldn’t bet on that though.

I love the name Madalena (this spelling). [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Mada[/name_f] or [name_f]Magda[/name_f] are nice nicknames for Madalena! Alena is cute and unexpected.

People might shorten it to [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] but that’s an easy correction: “I go by [name_f]Alena[/name_f].”
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] is another option.

I think it’s pretty! I do prefer [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], but [name_f]Maddalena[/name_f] is gorgeous.

Maddie is a likely nickname, but you can correct people with a preferred nickname ([name_f]Alena[/name_f]).
The thing to note is that parents do not have ultimate control over what their kid gets nicknamed; [name_f]Maddalena[/name_f] might like the nickname [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]! You’ll have to decide whether that possibility is a dealbreaker for you.

I love it, and don’t think it’s too much. I’m not sure if you can guarantee she wouldn’t use [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] or wouldn’t mind others calling her [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], but I second [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]!

Maybe [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] is an option if you don’t like [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]?

Just gonna be honest, (sorry if this is harsh), I hate this. Maybe do something else like
[name_f]Malayna[/name_f] or like [name_f]Madilynn[/name_f]

Its too much.

TBH these are very ugly

I think [name_f]Maddalena[/name_f] is very pretty and [name_f]Alena[/name_f] as a nn rather than [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] could definitely stick  :grinning:

I like it better spelled Madeleina, but since you don’t care for the [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] part I suggest just going with [name_f]Alena[/name_f].
