Does anyone have any suggestions to make [name_u]Reese[/name_u] a more “girly” name? I know, I know…if I love [name_u]Reese[/name_u] I should just use it. I don’t want to hear those kinds of comments, just suggestions for alternatives. I know it will be a made-up name, I have looked and looked for a solid name with [name_u]Reese[/name_u] and it’s not happening…so I’m ok with made up at this point. My favorite, well actually all I have found is Reeslyn. But I want to make sure I have heard every idea for the name before deciding for sure! I also love the hyphenated [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] or [name_f]Eva[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u]…but again want more suggestions, preferably without a hyphen. Thanks so much! You ladies always give me some great ideas!
What about adding “typical girly” endings?
Like :
Reesette / Reesetta
Reeselle / Reesella
Reesia / Reesya
Reesa
[name_u]Reese[/name_u] makes me think of [name_u]Reese[/name_u] Witherspoon, so I think it sounds fine on a girl, but since you want other suggestions… what about names that end with the ‘reese’ sound with [name_u]Reese[/name_u] as a nickname?
[name_f]Clarice[/name_f]
[name_f]Caprice[/name_f]
[name_f]Marise[/name_f]/[name_f]Marisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Cherise[/name_f]
Reeselle would be great…would also honor a family name. But it makes me think of re-sale
I know a 13 y/o girl named [name_u]Reese[/name_u], and her name fits her. It’s soft, unusual but known, sounds professional enough to be an adult and sweet enough to not need to be feminized. I think [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u], [name_f]Eva[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u], or Reeslyn sounds good like you’ve been thinking, or Reesie.
Reeselle does sound a bit like re-sale. Adding the a (Reesella) gets away from that a bit though, and you still get to honour your family member.
There’s also Reesanne / Reesanna / Reesana / Reesara ?
Thanks for the ideas! Of these I still think I like Reeslyn the best.
Nothing wrong with made up names! That’s how all names happened, someone made them up at some point! Reeselyn is really pretty. You could also do a two-name, name such as [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u]. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u] is extremely pretty and it makes the usually very common [name_f]Ava[/name_f] a little more distinguished. There’s also Reesetta. You could also used established names that end in [name_u]Reese[/name_u]. Clareese is the one that pops to mind.
Thank you! I feel like it’s going to come down to Reeslyn or [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] for me
[name_f]Patrizia[/name_f]
[name_u]Risa[/name_u]
[name_f]Rissa[/name_f]
[name_f]Therese[/name_f]
Rizpah (apparently, it’s biblical)
Between Reeslyn and [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u], my favorite is [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u].
Oh! Maybe Reecelle (less resale)?
Have you thought of simply naming her [name_f]Ree[/name_f]? I believe the Pioneer Woman (do you know of her?) is named [name_f]Ree[/name_f]; it’s really cute. [name_f]Ree[/name_f] _____ [name_m]Smith[/name_m] could EASILY be called [name_u]Reese[/name_u]; you could even give her a middle name that begins with S, although I believe you had some family names you were considering.
I know you’ve given this lots and lots of thought; I’m sure you’ll get it figured out!!
If you feel the need to “feminize” [name_u]Reese[/name_u], perhaps you should choose another name?
I love [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] (or even [name_f]Eva[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u], but I like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] better for a double-barrel, I think!), but if you’re trying to stray from a double barrel, my only ideas are names that have the [name_u]Reese[/name_u] sound in it, like [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] (who could also get the nn [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] if [name_u]Reese[/name_u] didn’t fit) or [name_f]Brisa[/name_f] (the Spanish word for “breeze”, I think!). I think both are pretty. Or even [name_u]Risa[/name_u], I’ve heard, although I don’t know a ton about that one.
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] is pretty, but isn’t [name_u]Reese[/name_u] Witherspoon’s daughter called [name_f]Ava[/name_f]? If it doesn’t bug you, then go ahead and use it! [name_f]Hope[/name_f] I didn’t put you off of using it, but just wanted to point it out
I once met someone named [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] who went solely by [name_u]Reese[/name_u].
Someone had said that in one of my previous posts and yes it is. But I didn’t make that connection and not sure many will. It doesn’t really bother me, just happen to like both names.
I can’t get past the [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] - avarice thing. I’m sorry, but having that close of a reference to a deadly sin just wouldn’t fly with me. However it doesn’t seem to bother you. I also really don’t like Reeslyn. It’s not that it’s made up, I don’t mind if names are made up…it’s just that the lyn ending on names that didn’t traditionally have them has turned into a negative stereotype and I wouldn’t want my child being associated. As a high school teacher, I have heard kids make fun of girls with names that have lyn tacked on the end…kind of as a way to make their name more feminine (just like what you’re trying to do).
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the previous posters suggestion of [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] or [name_f]Therese[/name_f]. What a perfect way to get to [name_u]Reese[/name_u]. [name_f]Theresa[/name_f] and [name_f]Therese[/name_f] both age well, offer more options with nicknames and will give your daughter a defined identity (instead of an association with a celebrity or something like that). I’m voting for [name_f]Theresa[/name_f]. [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] is also very pretty.
Thanks but as mentioned before I don’t like either of those names…[name_f]Theresa[/name_f] seems really dated to me, and I also have a family member named that and don’t want that connection. [name_f]Clarice[/name_f] has been mentioned several times but I just don’t like it. Thanks for your opinion though!
Okay, then [name_f]Brisa[/name_f] or [name_u]Risa[/name_u]/Reesa. Either of those would be lovely choices. [name_m]Just[/name_m] please, before making a final decision, imagine what it would be like going to school with certain names. So many parents forget to think about this.
I think avarice is pronounced totally different isn’t it? [name_f]Ava[/name_f]-[name_u]Reese[/name_u] has two strong A’s where avarice has 2 ah sounds? I could be wrong.
