Looking for opinions on the following names to be paired with a likely middle name of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Last name is pronounced like Castle. Older brother’s name is [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]
I like Charlotte and Elowen, but I’m not sure about how well any of them fit with Griffin. They’re all much higher on the popularity charts and much more common (except for Elowen which is why I like it so much, but it’s SO different from Griffin).
Both Charlotte Elizabeth and Elowen Elizabeth sound lovely.
I don’t know if you’re open to other suggestions but since Griffin is welsh, I though of a few names that might fit a little better…
My favorite is [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], but [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is also nice. Paired with [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] though, my favorite is [name_f]Elowen[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] don’t sound the best with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. My vote out of your list would likely be [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].
I love all the names on your list!! My favourites are [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] :).
With [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] I think [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] work best.
With the middle name [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] I think [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] works best; followed by [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] then [name_f]Madeline[/name_f].
So my vote goes to either [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]!
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is my favourite overall and with [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]
However [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a little repetitive…
Would you consider an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] alternative? [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f] is my favourite but there are plenty to choose from. [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f], [name_f]Betty[/name_f], [name_f]Liesel[/name_f], [name_f]Lisette[/name_f] etc…
I love [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] and it’s my clear favourite. Also love it as [name_m]Griffin[/name_m]'s sister. I like the combo [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is closest to [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] in origin/roots, not that it matters. I don’t think names need to be similar to one another to be used for siblings. I really like [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], and [name_f]Elowen[/name_f].
I really like [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] with [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] because they both feel mythological and a bit quirky. Though like a previous poster, I am not sold on the repeating ‘[name_f]El[/name_f]’ sound of [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
I love the classic [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], though note it is very close to [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]'s name!
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] sound like they were meant to be siblings!
I agree with a pp, both names are quirky, and magical in a subtle way. I think [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is stunning, so pretty and soft and strong. I also like the nn options you have picked out! I do think [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is slightly repetitive, but I still like it. I think it’s just a middle name anyway, so it wont matter as much!
I also like, in order:
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] - I’ve always been fond of this name, I think it’s so adorable and sweet!
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - such a beautiful name! [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] isnt my favorite nickname, but I still think its cute.
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] - love your nn choice of [name_u]Ollie[/name_u]! I think [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] sound great together (though I prefer [name_f]Olive[/name_f], personally!)
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f] isnt really my style, but I do like it as a middle name! [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] sounds nice!
To be honest i’ve never liked the name [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] but with this name i pick [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
The other names are too used and predictable.
I adore the name [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] but I’m not sure it pairs well with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] because of the shared [name_f]El[/name_f]- prefix.
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] pair much better, even if I like them less on their own.
Elowen is so gorgeous and distinctive, with a fairytale, fantasy-like vibe to me. I’m not fond of the repeating El- with Elizabeth either though, and would go with a variant like Elowen Libby, Elowen Lizzy or Elowen Isabelle. (Isabel/Isabelle, Isabella and Isobel are variations of Elizabeth, despite sounding so different.)
My favourite of the others is Charlotte, I love how classic and down-to-earth it is. It has so many great current and historical references, like the Jane Austen characters or Princess Charlotte.
Given that all your choices other than Elowen are quite popular names, a more distinctive middle would make the combination more interesting. Though given that Elizabeth is THE most common middle name for girls and women of all ages where I’m from, a variant would sound so much fresher with any name. Elizabeth DOES sound good with almost everything though!
Wow, thanks for all the comments. Here are my general thoughts/comments:
We aren’t 100% final with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] as a middle name (should’ve added that caveat originally). [name_u]Clare[/name_u] has been discussed.
I really like [name_f]Pippa[/name_f], but my wife nixed it (probably due to extended royal family). My uncle has a dog, [name_f]Pippa[/name_f], so probably out of the equation for us.
I struggle with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] because of the last name (city name plus castle sounds like a place; also a nickname of [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] could be potential for kids to poke fun with last name of Castle, if you catch my drift). My wife struggles with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] for the same reason as another poster (royal family name).
