To me they were two different names, Mad-e-line as in line, like where you wait in line and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] pronounced Mad-e-lyn. Recently though I met a [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] who pronounces it “[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f].” So I have 2 questions: which pronunciation do you prefer: [name_f]Line[/name_f] or [name_u]Lyn[/name_u]? And, if you were pronouncing them both as [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f], which spelling would you use? I’m really loving both ways of saying it and I think both spellings are super pretty. Would love to hear some opinions

I’ve always pronounced them this way:

[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f]- Mad-eh-lin
This is after meeting people with these names, so that makes it difficult to offer advice…
I honestly prefer the -line ending. If I wanted the -lyn ending I would spell it [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] 
I like the [name_m]French[/name_m] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (MAD-lehn).
I like the English [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (MAD-ə-lin)
They’re two separate names to me as well. I prefer [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] (mad-uh-line) to [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] (mad-uh-lyn). [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] with the -lyn ending makes no sense to me.
I actually prefer the [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] spelling. It looks more streamlined to me, without being kreeativ. I pronounce all versions of the name MAD-uh-lin unless told otherwise.

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] with the -layne pronunciation is my favourite. [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] I say with the -line pronunciation, and [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] I find too trendy. If I was pronouncing the name Mad-eh-lyn I would go with [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] over [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] if those were my only options.
I prefer [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]. (mad-uh-line) I’m not big into -lyn names as they are so popular.

I know many people who pronounce [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] mad-uh-lyn, which is my only hesitation with this name.
Personally I love the Mad-uh-LYE-n prn. Second favorite would be [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] pronounced closer to Mad-uh-[name_m]LAY[/name_m]-n. [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] is my least favorite
I prefer [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] with [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] pronunciation. I just love -lyn ending more then -line and I think it’s the prettiest.
These are all correct pronunciations. [name_f]Remember[/name_f], if large number of people pronounce one word in specific way, that makes it correct. After all, language is flexible and always changing. Look at old English or Shakesperian English.

I say [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] as mad-eh-line and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] as Mad-eh-len. The whole “line” sounds like “lyn” blows my mind–in English, that pretty much never happens, and since [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is supposed to be a [name_m]French[/name_m] name, I can say with almost certainty that there is no way that a [name_m]French[/name_m] person would pronounce [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] like [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] or [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f]. It probably wouldn’t be Mad-eh-line in [name_m]French[/name_m], either; it’d be mad-eh-leen, but that’s besides the point.
I prefer [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] it, actually.
