Madrigal

I’ve had the name [name_f]Madrigal[/name_f] on my middle name list for a long time but recently I can’t help wondering if it would work as a first name (nickname [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]). What do you think? Siblings would be [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] and [name_m]Alaric[/name_m].

I think there’s something very exotic and beautiful about [name_f]Madrigal[/name_f]! It seems a little different to your other children’s names, but I think it could still work.

Juniper [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]

I like the way it looks and the meaning of it, but the ‘gal’ ending makes me thinking of a clothing company - Nasty [name_u]Gal[/name_u] is a big one in the UK, so I read this as Madri [name_u]Gal[/name_u] in the same tone used for the adverts.

It’s very unusual and definitely a more out there way of getting [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] as a nn though, and it sounds lovely paired with those middles!

Absolutely love it! I have very fond memories of the madrigals sung early on [name_f]May[/name_f] morning in [name_m]Oxford[/name_m], and I agree there’s something a little magical and mystical about it, but it sounds joyful and full of life too. Perfect with those sibling names (although [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] feels fresher than [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] for short).

There is a Spanish surname [name_f]Madrigal[/name_f], so that was my first thought. I wouldn’t be sure whether to pronounce it like the surname or some other way.

I don’t really find the sound very appealing, personally. Especially not with sisters who have such elegant, flowy names – [name_f]Madrigal[/name_f] feels a little out of place. I’m thinking it would be better as a mn.

I want to like it, but I agree with some pps that the sound isn’t as flowy as some of the other names on your list. It sounds sort of clunky to my ear in comparison to [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]. It does have a very sweet meaning though.

Madrigal is one of my favorite non-botanical word names! I think it fits well with that sibling set.

Madrigal goes well with your set!

I think [name_f]Madrigal[/name_f] would fit in perfectly with her siblings!

Absolutley lovely! I’ve never heard of [name_f]Madrigal[/name_f], but it’s very pretty. [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], [name_f]Isadora[/name_f], and [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] are also gorgeous! [name_f]Madrigal[/name_f] flows nicely with them.

I always loved the fact that it sounds a little bit like “magical” I think it’s lovely as a first name and has very accessible nicknames, but it has a different feeling from the rest of the sibset.

On it’s own, I don’t care for it. But with your sibset, it is perfect!

Very tempting in the sibset! Sweet sound.
I prefer [name_u]Madigan[/name_u].
Good luck.
