Anyone heard of this name/met a little [name]Maelys[/name] before? I think it is beautiful and [name]Mae[/name] would make a great simple nn. I think it is pronounced may-leese or ma-leese. It is French - looks like a mash of [name]Mae[/name] + [name]Elise[/name]. [name]Maelys[/name] Hostetler?
Very pretty name. I know a fabulous, funny, bright Turkish lady named [name]Maelys[/name]. She pronounces it “[name]MAY[/name]-lees.”
I know two little Maelyses. It is becoming very popular in French-speaking parts of [name]Canada[/name]. I find it to be quite a mouthful with your last name though.
I have never heard it before. I instinctively pronounce it [name]MAY[/name]-liss, which has a nice sound to it. I’m having trouble pronouncing it the way you’re saying. If the last syllable is prn lees, I can only pronounce it may-LEES. But I’m not French, so maybe that has something to do with it. 
I like it and I don’t at the same time. I love that it looks sophisticated when written. When I think of it as a french name I like the sound and feel, but for some reason if I just heard it on a little girl without the context of the spelling I would think cutsey, southern, modern. i.e. [name]Bailey[/name] or [name]Kaylee[/name]. Which aren’t my particular taste.
I know quite a few Maëlys since it’s very popular in [name]France[/name] but it sounds more like “MY leez” not “may lees” not sure if that’s a great description but here is Audio. Some French names can be tricky since they often look different from how they actually sound if you don’t speak the language.
I’m fascinated by the name, but no one seems to know the proper pronunciation. I most often hear MAH-eh-leez, which when said quickly does sound very much like My-leez, but the “mah-eh” is very counter-intuitive for English speakers. I think it’s a name that’s very difficult to pull off if you don’t speak French.
This is probably a more accurate description, I can never give a good phonetic prn like you guys can or quite understand everyone’s prn when I say it outloud. I have cognitive issues with that or something

I think it ends up getting dropped, I never see it in posts and I think this is why people are let to believe this sounds like “may lees” or Maëlle sounds like “may elle” when it doesn’t.
I don’t like [name]Maelys[/name] because the spelling just looks awkward to me, but I went to school with a girl named [name]Marlys[/name] which was kinda cool :))
I think my husband and I are going with this First Name…but we speak Spanish at home, so we both pronounce it “My-Elise”. We’ll see how my English-speaking side of the family handles it- I think we may give her the NN “[name]Miley[/name]” or Maya (like Maya-Leez), but keep it officially [name]Maelys[/name]…or maybe keep it “My-Elise”. Still 3-months to go until her expected due date to hash it out.

When I went back to the doctor for my 6 week check-up, a lady in the waiting room overheard the receptionist asking for me and she stopped me and told me how she really wanted to name her daughter [name]Marlys[/name]. Yeah lol, it is more like mah-eh-lees, as others have said. I like it quite a lot, but I can only use it as a middle name if at all because no one around my daughter would be able to pronounce it, except me.
