Maeva

Give me your honest opinion on Maeva.
Too similar to Ava, or weird smush with Maeve?

I’m a newborn photographer and I follow a lot of other newborn photographers. Much of the time, when a photographer posts an image that they’ve taken, it’ll be something like, “Introducing _____, 6 days new” or something or another.

Perhaps seeing it this way, paired with a sweet photograph or a darling little newborn put it into a lighter perspective for me.

What do you guys think of it?

It’s a nice name! I think the nicknames are nice, and it’s unique without sounding weird or trendy! I do prefer Maeve, because I think it’s a lot sweeter, but I definitely like it more than Ava.

I like it and don’t consider it a smoosh name, but I don’t know what other people would think as they don’t research names as much generally.

It’s pretty, though I do prefer the more streamlined [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. I would question how to pronounce it (rhyming with [name_f]Ava[/name_f] vs. mah-EH-vuh).

Definitely strikes me as on-trend in sound. It looks like it’s jumped quickly up the charts in the [name_u]England[/name_u] and [name_m]Wales[/name_m] name data (outside the top 500 to #354 in 2021) and also has decent usage in [name_u]France[/name_u] and [name_m]Quebec[/name_m], CAN.

I really like it pronounced the [name_u]French[/name_u] way, I’m neutral on it in an American accent. I have really positive associations with the name though, so I think it’s sweet either way.

[name_f]Maeva[/name_f] reminds me of [name_f]Mauve[/name_f], so I automatically thought of purple. It doesn’t look like a smush name to me, and I don’t think its similar to [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. I think its a pretty name

I just can’t force myself to like [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. I just hear [name_m]Dave[/name_m] with an “M.”

I know a little [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] and she is just so precious

I like [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] better than [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] :woman_shrugging:

I like [name_f]Maeva[/name_f]! I’ve always seen/heard it with the [name_u]French[/name_u] spelling/pronunciation: Maëva, with three syllables (mah-eh-va), but I actually prefer the anglicized Maeve-uh.

[name_f]Maeva[/name_f] is sweet and pretty - I do think it can be pronounced mah-eh-vuh too, so that might be something to consider

I like [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] but do prefer the streamlined/sleek [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]

[name_f]Lovely[/name_f] name! I think I might actually prefer it slightly to [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], although both are very pretty. Pronunciation could be a little bit tricky (MAY-va vs. MY-va vs. ma-EH-va), so that’s the only issue, but not major.

In my own personal opinion, it sounds like it’s trying too hard to be different and just a smush-up of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Ava[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] a lot. It is Tahitian if I’m not mistaken and I think names of that region of the world have a hard to describe classic element to them that makes them sound fruity, airy, positive, unique, and overall like it/they could belong to any time period. And no, I don’t view it as a smoosh of [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], this is actually the first time I’ve ever even seen the names conflated with one another.

I really love it! :green_heart:
I’m a big fan of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], and the extra a at the end gives it a bit of a fun, sweet twist.
