Magdalene, Lavinia and Beatrice

We’ve pretty much decided what we’ll name baby if it’s a boy, but still struggling to chose a name for a girl. We’ve got a shortlist, but can’t agree on the perfect name.

My favorite is [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f], SO prefers [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] as well and he likes [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f], but neither seems perfect. This week SO came up with [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. I like it, and it has some great nicknames. But I’m not sure.

So what do you think? [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]? The middle name will most likely be Lilitu, Aramina or Nineveh.

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is my favorite. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] Ar@min@ or [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] L!l!tu would be lovely.

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is my favourite. I love how it sounds the nns it provides. And I think it goes wonderfully with your middle names. My second favourite is [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] but i dont quite like it with your middles for some reason.

I can see why you’re struggling with these lovely choices! While I do love [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], I’m not sure it’s the perfect fit with your son’s name. [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] and [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] I think go much better. I really like both of those and find it hard to choose which I like better as they have a similar vibe for me. Not sure if you’re wanting any suggestions but [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] would go beautifully with Hjortur as well.

[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] is my favourite!

My daughter’s middle name is [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. I love it so much. (We would have used it as a first but it was my grandmother’s name and we wanted honor names in the middle and " their own" first names.) I think it’s perfect!!! Mature with cute nicknames. Lots of history. A great meaning. Well known but relatively rare.
[name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] would be my 2nd choice. Good luck.

I like [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] best, but all are great names!

Maybe you can find a name that has a mix of the names you like?

Suggestions:
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Marcella[/name_f]
[name_u]Delaney[/name_u]
[name_f]Olivianne[/name_f]
[name_f]Therese[/name_f] / [name_f]Theresa[/name_f]
[name_f]Adaline[/name_f]
[name_f]Maya[/name_f]
Adalaid
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Della[/name_f]

I loooove all of these names, but if I had to choose, I would go with [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] seems to be gaining popularity - not a bad thing, just something to keep in mind.

Honestly while I prefer [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] (I like the softness of [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] myself but [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] is just as lovely!) I can’t help but think [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] as a first and middle is gorgeous and manages to utilize both of your favorites.

I can’t decide between [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] or [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], since they both have this weighty Victorian feel I find so stunning. The slight edge I will give to [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] is that there are more nickname options, ie: [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Dolly[/name_f], [name_u]Lennie[/name_u].

Is [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] a possibility? Aramina is very pretty as well.

[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is okay but just doesn’t pack the same punch for me.

I prefer [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]. It’s unique and unpopular. [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] doesn’t sound or look nice to me. And I am not on the [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] train. It just looks and sounds like an obese old-lady name.

@adelina_sophia: both combinations are beautiful, but we’ve decided that the middle name will be a name from SO’s family, so we’re not considering [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] or [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] as middle names.

I prefer [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], and I think it fits well with the brother’s name

With big bro, I like [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]. I don’t think [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] fits well, but [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] is a good shout too! Under circumstances like these, I’d take both and see which one fits better. But you can’t go wrong with either.

Middle name wise, I like [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] Aramina and [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] Lilitu.

Stylistically, my favorite is [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]. It’s so elegant, vintage, feminine, and stylish. However, with your sibset, I think [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] is your best bet. [name_u]Unique[/name_u], strong, and beautiful.

I like [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] best of those.

I’m going to shout out for [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] because my name is derived from it. However, [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] is really cool, just for the [name_m]Roman[/name_m] history connection alone! She was an impressive woman!

I’m with you — [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] is beautiful!

In my opinion, your middle name options don’t flow brilliantly with the longer firsts on your list ([name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] and [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]), but I think a great first name is more important than perfect full name flow. [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] Lilitu would be my pick. Lilitu is stunning and intriguing.
