Our daughter, [name]Margaret[/name], is due in late [name]March[/name] and we’re trying to figure out the nickname. I like [name]Maggie[/name] but I know a few and I feel like its somewhat expected. I really like [name]Maisie[/name], but I feel like it might be spelled wrong and I don’t like [name]Macy[/name], [name]Macie[/name], etc. I feel like [name]Maisie[/name] is a bit more unexpected and fresh. What do you think? We might just wait till she gets here and figure out one that works.
[name]Maggie[/name] and [name]Maisie[/name] are lovely nicknames for [name]Margaret[/name], you could always use both if you wanted. However it seems like you prefer [name]Maisie[/name] , so go for it! It isn’t spelled wrong so don’t worry.
Another suggestion: Mysie, Scottish nickname.
[name]Maisie[/name] and [name]Macy[/name] aren’t said the same, at least not where I’m from, may-zee vs may-cee. Personally I’d go with [name]Maggie[/name] as I find [name]Maisie[/name] a bit cutesy and childish to work on an adult. [name]Maisie[/name]'s also much more popular in the UK, which again would lean my vote towards [name]Maggie[/name], but I don’t know about the US statistics.
Other nn for [name]Margaret[/name] are [name]Meg[/name], [name]Meggie[/name], [name]Peg[/name], [name]Peggy[/name], [name]Margie[/name], [name]Madge[/name] and [name]Greta[/name]. I still prefer [name]Maggie[/name], though! [name]Maisie[/name] is too cutesy for my taste.
I don’t see [name]Maisie[/name] and [name]Macy[/name] as the same.
[name]Maisie[/name] is pronounced like [name]Daisy[/name] with a M = may-zee.
I’m a [name]Margaret[/name] who goes by [name]Maggie[/name], I’ve never warmed to [name]Maisie[/name], and shudder if anyone calls me it.
Other nicknames I do go by are [name]Meg[/name] and [name]Peggy[/name].
I love [name]Maisie[/name], but could never use it as a full formal name. I say go for the nickname, especially when she’s little. It’s so cute.
