My baby girl will be arriving soon, and her name will be [name]Magnolia[/name] (not sure of middle name yet). DH and I aren’t sure if we will be having more, but it got me thinking about a girl’s name to go with [name]Magnolia[/name] if we ever do. Boys names are sorted, but I only like a handful of girls names.
The only one I am liking right now is Aven, which is another flower name but less common than [name]Magnolia[/name], and sounds a little made up to me. Also, I don’t know if I like the idea of both girls with flower names-- would that be cheesy?
I’d love to hear your ideas for a girls name that would go with [name]Magnolia[/name] as a sib set. Something that has the same style or feel as [name]Magnolia[/name]…
I wouldn’t advise going with another flower name… I think its cheesy. So, I wouldn’t use Aven.
But even if Aven were not a flower name, I still wouldn’t think it went well with [name]Magnolia[/name], because it has a less feminine feel to it. Like, [name]Magnolia[/name] is so elegant and and much frillier than Aven. Aven seems more unisex.
I would go with something to match the vintage, frilly feel of [name]Magnolia[/name]…
Some ideas…
[name]Cordelia[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Camilla[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Dorothy[/name]
[name]Philippa[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Eugenie[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name]
I don’t have a problem with another flower name… depending on the flower. Like I thought [name]Susannah[/name] was good, and that’s sort of a flower name.
[name]Jessamine[/name] would work well too, or [name]Camellia[/name] both relatively subtle flower names. I would skip [name]Lily[/name] or [name]Violet[/name] becaue they’re too obvious. Though [name]Liliana[/name] has possibilities?
I mostly just think Aven is too short and crisp and modern-sounding to pair well with [name]Magnolia[/name], except as a middle name to something else. [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Aven[/name] or similar.
Other long-ish, femme names seem to fit best to me.
[name]Magnolia[/name] & [name]Viveca[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name] & [name]Katerina[/name] [name]Aven[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name] & [name]Evangeline[/name] (Sounds a bit like Aven to me?)
[name]Magnolia[/name] & [name]Zephirine[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name] & [name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name] & [name]Amity[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name] & [name]Evanthe[/name] (Ee-van-thuh)
[name]Magnolia[/name] & [name]Aurora[/name]
I like [name]Evangeline[/name] and [name]Cecily[/name]. [name]Love[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name], too.
Other names I like but not sure if they would go with [name]Magnolia[/name]: [name]Allegra[/name], [name]Gemma[/name], [name]Calla[/name], [name]Francesca[/name]
I don’t really like the flower name theme, although Aven isn’t too obvious so it isn’t as bad as, say, [name]Magnolia[/name] & [name]Acacia[/name]… However, I don’t love Aven and [name]Magnolia[/name] together, as [name]Magnolia[/name] strikes me as very feminine, whereas Aven sounds a little masculine to me…
I think we may end up using [name]Frances[/name] as [name]Magnolia[/name]'s middle name, so [name]Francesca[/name] may not work, though that would be my first choice. I like [name]Adelaide[/name], too.
Any Swedish names you’d suggest? [name]Just[/name] curious
[name]Magnolia[/name] [name]Frances[/name] would be lovely:) [name]How[/name] about [name]Magnolia[/name] & [name]Linn[/name]éa, [name]Magnolia[/name] & [name]Lovisa[/name] or [name]Magnolia[/name] & [name]Vendela[/name]?
