We’re still struggling with a name for our boy, we can’t agree on anything but our families and friends (and my husband) have been pushing for “Revell” for our baby’s first name. Revell is my last name so I really can’t even tell if I like it or not, I’m just so used to hearing it. I never changed my last name after getting married either, so would it be weird to have my son’s first name be the same as my last name?
And most importantly, what do you guys think of the name? BTW we pronounce it RevELL not REVell.
i like it, its different but unique
it wouldnt be that weird unless people point it out but if you like it then go for it
I like it! It sort of reminds me of the word “reveille”, which I love. I actually think Reveille would would make a really cool name, but I like that Revell has more significance to you. I think Ev would make a cool nn, too, personally. I can understand not being sure about it, though, haha, my LN is similar in theory to [name]Roberts[/name], so the idea of [name]Robert[/name], for example, as a FN or MN just seems odd to me.
What a great name! It’s different but not too strange and meaningful to your family. I would have pronounced it ‘revel’ though which has a great meaning. I’m sure people would get used to the pronunciation quickly though. I like both pronunciations so it wouldn’t bother me.
I only find it odd because you haven’t changed your last name. [name]Do[/name] people call you ___Revell? Or do you go by hubby’s last name?
And most people would call him “rev-el”. What if you changed the spelling? Revelle? That would make it his own name and cut down on mispronunciation. Or just go with [name]Revel[/name] or Reve/Rev or [name]Rebel[/name]
My automatic pronunciation is REV-ell, sorry, so I think that’s one issue. The other is you are keeping your last name. Wouldn’t it be odd to say “I’m Mrs. Revell and this is my son Revell”? If you changed your name, I don’t think it’s an issue, but since you are keeping your last name, it would be very odd… I’m assuming your son will have your husband’s last name, because Revell Revell would just be mean.
I like it in the middle spot. That way your son has both your and your husband’s last name.
