Two of the names on my list are very similar, and both have very strong personal connections for me, so please, no suggestions or comments trying to steer me away from the two of them.
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] - a nickname coming from my great grandmother [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]'s name (I’m not a fan of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] at all).
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - another [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] related name, but, also could be for my grandfather, who’s favourite flowers were daisies (he passed away 3 years ago in [name_u]June[/name_u], when I was 15).
I’m leaning more towards [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] (and I definitely can’t use both LOL), because I like the sound of it more, and it seems a bit stronger to me than [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], but I still love [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. I’ve thought about what I’d rather be named, and I love [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] on myself, because it suits my personality more.
Another idea (which I’m not totally sold on but I’m open to it if it’s the right combo) is to use [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]/[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] as a middle name. I like:
Personally I would use [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] and then let the nn develop naturally as she grows up.
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] has so many options!
However I know you’re not a [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] fan, so if I had to choose between the two names I would select [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], purely because I’m not keen on names that end in ‘ie’.
I love [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. My favorite combo is [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] but I like [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. I think it works really well as a middle name too. For some reason I think [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] stands alone better than [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. Maybe it’s because I had a great great grandmother named [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and I love The Great [name_m]Gatsby[/name_m].
It sounds as though you’re definitely leaning more towards [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]!
Having said that I dislike ‘ie’ spellings, I’m going to contradict myself completely and say that I prefer ‘[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]’ to ‘[name_f]Maisy[/name_f]’.
I feel like I am, but I love them both so much, haha and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] don’t fit as nicely as I’d like them to ([name_f]Georgia[/name_f] being my top one if I used [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] as a MN).
@clairejustine I think I feel that way too, but I know [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] has more usage as a stand alone name.
I really like them both, but if I had to choose, it would be [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. I’m not sure why I’m more inclined to that, but I like the sound and spelling better and to me it seems more versatile and flexible for later life because for me, [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] will eternally be a six-year-old girl.
Belated condolences for your grandfather. It’s really lovely that you’re honoring relatives so that they will still be remembered
Thank you My great grandmother’s still alive, but she and I are fairly close - our birthdays are a week apart so we often celebrate them together, and I’m the first great grandchild for her, so I got a bit more bonding time than my sister and cousins did with her. My grandad’s name is made up of names I could never use, so I felt that the [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] connection would be nice. I love both of them, but it’s a tough call. I’m also liking [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] a lot, but I think [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is more of a favourite for me.
I prefer [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. Somehow it seems more complete and less nicknamey than [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], probably because it’s also a word and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] isn’t. And it has a bit more meaning for you.
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is lovely.
Ok, next question (since [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] seems to have won that! :P)
Could [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] work for sisters? I’ve seen it used often in English birth announcements, and my next favourite would be [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], but [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] & [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] might be too much.
I think you might be right about [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. WDYT of [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]… Can be shortened to [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_u]Penny[/name_u], or even [name_f]Nell[/name_f].
I’m not a big fan of [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] tbh. I used to like it, but I’m not sure why I’ve gone off it. I’d say the ‘pee’ sound at the end did it, but [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] has the same ending LOL.
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is a lovely sibset.
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is cute but maybe a bit TOO cute.
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is alright but I feel like it’d be an odd, perhaps slightly unfair match with [name_f]Daisy[/name_f].
I know what you mean about [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], it was my favourite for ages but now I keep going on and off it.
I think you should stick with [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]. Pretty, classic, but not over popular, two syllable names. [name_m]Both[/name_m] easy to pronounce and spell.
Thinking about [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] again as I know you like it- could you use as MN for [name_f]Georgia[/name_f]?
I feel the same with [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] & [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - love them both but can’t use them together :/. I love [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] & [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] too though, I’m going to redo my signature with my top 5 combos that I would use for siblings, but not sure what else I’d use with [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] & [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] - I think they need something that sounds really English/comes off the English top 100 to complete my style haha.
