Makenna?

There’s a little girl at the church name [name]Makenna[/name] and I love her name of course she’ll probably adopt the nickname: [name]Kenna[/name] or Kennabug was thinking of adding the name on to the list. Along with

[name]Brooklyn[/name] " [name]Brooke[/name]."
[name]Arielle[/name] " [name]Ari[/name], [name]Arie[/name]"
[name]Aria[/name]
[name]Aniyah[/name]
[name]Skylar[/name]

The possible combo I love is

[name]Makenna[/name] [name]Brooklyn[/name]
[name]Makenna[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Makenna[/name] [name]Madison[/name]
[name]Makenna[/name] [name]Lilian[/name]
[name]Makenna[/name] [name]Grace[/name]

Her last name would be [name]Terry[/name];

I don’t mind it spelled [name]Makena[/name] - that’s a real African name - [name]Makenna[/name] has that faux-Irish feel that a lot of the trendy names have these days.

[name]Makena[/name] [name]Lilian[/name] is really pretty.

I think [name]Makenna[/name] is hideous and like someone was trying to differentiate their precious pumpkins from the sea of Michaelas and its (frankly, equally hideous) misspellings. There is very, very little attractive about this name except the nickname [name]Enna[/name], which I would use for [name]Anwen[/name], [name]Ellen[/name], [name]Gwendolen[/name], [name]Henrietta[/name], (which also offers [name]Etta[/name], which I adore), [name]Kerensa[/name] (the Cornish word for love), or hell, [name]Clementine[/name] at a push, which features many of the same sounds as [name]Makenna[/name] and none of the low class connotations.

That was without taking into account the surname, which pushes it into joke territory. Lillian is wonderful and dignified, and the only name I truly like of those you’ve listed (except perhaps Sophia, but I’m bored to tears of it). Suggestions:

Henrietta Lillian
Kerensa Lillian
Clementine Lillian (or Lilias!)

Other names:
Julia/Juliet
Miren/Marin/Maren - all different meanings but similar sounds.
Charis - has the same meaning as Grace.
Thalia - one of the three Graces, and the muse of comedy & poetry.
Minerva - goddess of wisdom so it links to Sophia, with some of the crisper sounds of Makenna or Madison and none of the feeling that it will be very, very dated in less than ten years.
Callista - I have such a soft spot for the nickname Callie
Willow
Adara
Arden

I’m not a huge fan of [name]Makenna[/name], but would suggest opting for a simpler sounding middle name and maybe something not so trendy since [name]Makenna[/name] already has that in the bag.

I like [name]Makena[/name], spelled this way. I like [name]Makena[/name] [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Makena[/name] [name]Lillian[/name].

If you love [name]Makenna[/name], than go for it, but it’s not really my style. I love your middle name choices [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Lilian[/name], or [name]Grace[/name].

I guess I haven’t posted much on name threads lately. Is this the new way we respond on NB? I can’t believe the word “hideous” is in this thread. It’s one thing to say a name is not your style and provide some alternatives you think they might like…but gosh…when I was searching for a name for my twins two years ago, I don’t remember anyone being so rude and dismissive of any of my choices.

I think [name]Makenna[/name] is pretty. I like [name]Makenna[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] the best of your possible middle name combos.

I think [name]Makenna[/name] looks like a misspelling of [name]McKenna[/name], which is a name I strongly dislike anyway (along with [name]McKenzie[/name]/[name]Makenzie[/name], etc.) I do think they look tacky and won’t age well at all.

[name]Makenna[/name] is actually one of the few trendy names that I like. I’ve known one little girl with the name and she was very sweet. Out of the combos you have listed, my favorites are [name]Makenna[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] and [name]Makenna[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. I think to balance our the trendy/modern vibe of [name]Makenna[/name], it would be best to go with something classic in the middle.

Out of those middle names I like [name]Makenna[/name] [name]Grace[/name] best. As an additional suggestion, how about [name]Makenna[/name] [name]Frances[/name]? Or [name]Makenna[/name] [name]Jean[/name]?
I like the other names on your list too. [name]Arielle[/name] with nn [name]Ari[/name] is just beautiful

I reckon you should spell it [name]McKenna[/name], [name]MacKenna[/name] or [name]Makena[/name], they feel more legitimate than [name]Makenna[/name] (to me, anyway.) And that way, people can distinguish your daughter from the girl who goes to your church. Of your choices, I like [name]Makenna[/name] [name]Sophia[/name] or [name]Makenna[/name] [name]Lillian[/name]. Some people have raised concerns that [name]Makenna[/name] won’t age well, so an established mn like [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Lillian[/name] or [name]Grace[/name] would do it justice.

Other ideas: [name]Mallory[/name], [name]Madigan[/name], [name]McKinley[/name], [name]Emerson[/name], [name]Saylor[/name], [name]Milan[/name], [name]Milena[/name], [name]Miller[/name]/[name]Millar[/name], [name]Mattea[/name]. I adore [name]Arielle[/name] nn [name]Ari[/name], btw, that’s absolutely beautiful. [name]Aniyah[/name] is also nice, though I prefer [name]Anya[/name] or [name]Ania[/name]. [name]Aria[/name] is lovely, too! I think you might also like: [name]Aurelia[/name], [name]Ara[/name] and [name]Aurora[/name].
