I’m super crushing on [name_m]Malachy[/name_m]/Malachi tonight, and could use some opinions! I’m slightly leaning toward [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] (mal-ah-kee, if I understand correctly!) as opposed to [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] (mal-ah-kye). Although I like the sound of [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] a little more, I very much judge names on how they look visually, and am so intrigued by [name_m]Malachy[/name_m]! What are your general thoughts on the name, which form do you prefer?
Also, brief thoughts on [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Malachy[/name_m]/Sebastian [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] or [name_m]Torin[/name_m] [name_m]Malachy[/name_m]/Malachi? I’d previously toyed with [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]Amory[/name_u] and [name_m]Torin[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m], but am a bit smitten with both FNs with [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] tonight. If not one of these, what would you pair with [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]/Malachy?
Malachy is my favourite! I know a little [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] who goes by [name_m]Mac[/name_m].
Malachy [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] sounds great, as does [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] [name_m]Torin[/name_m].
I love a one syllable middle with a longer name like [name_m]Malachy[/name_m]. [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] come to mind, although I know they’re not to everyone’s taste for a boy.
… EDIT: just realised you mean [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] for a middle. Sorry! It’s great as a middle, too. I like the flow of [name_m]Torin[/name_m] [name_m]Malachy[/name_m]. [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is great too although more of a mouthful. [name_m]Bastian[/name_m] [name_m]Malachy[/name_m]?
I think they are okay, im not a huge fan of harsher sounds though, so they arent my favourite sounding names.
I am more familiar with [name_m]Malachi[/name_m], but I think I slightly prefer [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] actually, I dont love ‘kye/kai’ sound/
I prefer both names with [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] (Im starting to stumble on these names!) but [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] is also nice.
I think I like how [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] sounds better but I prefer the look of [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]! I really like [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Malachy[/name_m]! For [name_m]Torin[/name_m], I like [name_m]Torin[/name_m] [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] best!
I’m a big fan of [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]! I had never heard of [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] before, but it’s growing on me! I still prefer [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] though, but I think [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] is useable. It does slightly make me think of the word anarchy though - but that could be a cool factor!
I think [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] is a wonderful name! It seems strong and elegant, and is unique and personal without being too extravagant and unfamiliar. [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] could also work, but it sounds more like a second surname to me next to [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m].
I’m not a big fan of [name_m]Torin[/name_m], but I think it goes best with [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] as the mn.
I personally don’t care for [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] because in the Bible (which is where the name comes from) it is spelled [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]. I understand if you don’t like the way it looks though.
Although I like both, I prefer [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]. I like long I sounds, and [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] seems more intuitive. [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] is great!
Hmm…I really like both. I lean towards [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] myself, but it probably depends on which mn or fn you pair it with.
Sebastian [name_m]Malachi[/name_m], for example, sounds better than [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Malachy[/name_m], imho. But I prefer [name_m]Torin[/name_m] [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] to [name_m]Torin[/name_m] [name_m]Malachi[/name_m].
My favourite is [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] from the two I just think [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] has a stronger image. I also like the biblical connotation I also prefer the sound of [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] I think it’s handsome. I really like the combination [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] I think it’s strong and has a lovely wholesome vibe. Not keen on [name_m]Torin[/name_m] [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] prefer [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Malachi[/name_m].
I love [name_m]Malachy[/name_m]! [name_f]My[/name_f] little four year nephew is [name_m]Malachy[/name_m], & he is a hoot. Totally lovable little ball of energy, & wears the name so well. He gets called ‘[name_u]Mal[/name_u]’ a lot, which I honestly don’t love. The nn [name_m]Mac[/name_m] is pretty cute though. I guess what I’m saying is, I prefer [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] to [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]. [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] just sounds kind of serious somehow. And [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] sounds sporty, fun loving & friendly. It’s also less common, which I find to be a plus. I love [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], & to be perfectly honest, I think that [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] flows a bit better. Not sure why. [name_m]Torin[/name_m] [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] is much nicer than [name_m]Torin[/name_m] [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] though.
Thanks, everyone! After mulling it over for a couple days, I think I’ve decided that [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] + [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]/Malachy isn’t really for me, but [name_m]Torin[/name_m] [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] is still a maybe. I’ll give him some more thought, or maybe see if I love him with any new favorites. I still prefer the sound of [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] and the look of [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] lol, so I guess we’ll see if [name_m]Malachy[/name_m]’s sound grows on me as much as his look does.
@Lily_Grace - thanks for thinking of me! Yes, I’m a [name_u]Christian[/name_u] and very familiar with the [name_u]Christian[/name_u] Bible version. [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] is the Gaelic/Irish form of [name_m]Malachi[/name_m], and said slightly differently. I would pick it for my Irish roots, if I went for it, in addition to the cool Biblical ties. Ironically, the Hebrew pronunciation of [name_u]Mal[/name_u]’akhi/מַלְאָכִי is much closer to [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] (mah-LAH-hee/chee; that gutteral kh sound in Hebrew) than [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]. [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] is super fun though, and I love his sound.
I prefer [name_m]Malachi[/name_m], but spelling and pronunciation wise. I also love the idea of [name_u]Kai[/name_u] as a nn.
Wow I adore [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Malachy[/name_m]/Malachi (wish I had thought of that combo haha)! I also really like [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]Amory[/name_u] though, and can’t pick
Thanks, love! You are more than welcome to him; I think I prefer [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]Amory[/name_u], and even then I’m not 100% sure. I don’t know why I can never commit to a [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] combo.
