My hubby loves [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m], and I like it well enough. But, for a variety of reasons, it’s not usable for us. I’m wondering if anyone has ideas of other names LIKE [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]? [name_m]Even[/name_m] though this is a Scottish name, I’d generally prefer not to go in that direction with other suggestions. We’re not Scottish/Irish and for whatever reason I’m not in love with Celtic names. I don’t think that’s the vibe hubby is going for either – he just likes a two syllable name with strong consonant sounds. Ideas? Other names we’ve considered: [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] (I love but he’s meh), [name_u]Percy[/name_u] (he likes, I can’t quite get myself there), [name_m]Orson[/name_m] (we both like but first names ending in -son don’t work with our Scandinavian surname), [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] (no fatal flaws, just neither of us super excited about it), [name_m]Rufus[/name_m] (hubby likes, I have reservations), [name_m]Silas[/name_m] (I love but possibly too popular and hubby is meh).
Thanks for these! This is definitely the right style family (for me) but I feel like hubby is more unpredictable and less likely to choose these types of studious/vintage names, even though quite a few of the examples he gives me fit that category! I think he needs something that has a bit of a modern-leaning edge, and I can’t put my finger on how to find it. I think I’ll ask him about [name_m]Quentin[/name_m]. Something about that seems to be more his style. Any thoughts with [name_m]Quentin[/name_m] added to the inspiration list?
