I can’t see it. It looks overly masculine with the -on ending plus “man” at the beginning. In religious circles it would be especially bad because it sounds similar to the Biblical words manna (good context but bizarre as a name because it’s food) and mammon (bad context referring to greed for money).
I actually know a [name]Manon[/name] (I think she’s around 12 years old) and I think it works perfectly fine. I’m sure pronunciation would sometimes be a problem- I think you’d get MA-nun, rhymes with [name]Shannon[/name], a lot- but I don’t think it would be that bad, honestly. I think a name that looks close to an unattractive English word ([name]Anais[/name]-Anus) would be tougher to wear. Plus you don’t really need an accent to pronounce it attractively, like you do with other French names- ma-[name]NON[/name] works fine, even pronouning the second n the English way. I think it’s a beautiful name!
I really like the name, but to be honest I just don’t see it working in the states. People would mispronounce it, and I think would guess she’s a he. I know it’s pretty popular in [name]France[/name] right now, but just don’t see it working in anglophone countries.

I love love [name]Manon[/name]. It’s such a beautiful name. I know a [name]Manon[/name] who manages just fine in NYC, but there are many foreign names here. Clearly, you would have to be explaining the correct pronunciation to people unfamiliar with [name]Manon[/name].
I think it would work. I’ve heard it before and I really love it (might have to add it to my list!). You would definitely have pronounciation issues, but I’m a big believer in naming a child a name you love, that has history, over one that everyone can pronounce. My name is [name]Deirdre[/name] and I grew up in the US, so few people could pronounce it correctly. To me, it was never an issue and I don’t mind questions, etc. about pronounciation. It’s not an American name so why should everyone know how to pronounce it there?
[name]Manon[/name] is a beautiful name, and I would definitely go with it if you love it. I see it as a feminine name, but maybe that’s because I already knew it was a girl’s name. Be prepared for questions about it, but isn’t that the joy of being a name fan?
I love [name]Manon[/name] and I have met a couple of girls with this name. It is also the name of an opera. Yes, you will have to pronounce it and spell it for people, but you have to do that for a lot of names. Thumbs up from me!
I don’t know if it would work as a first name here in the states… I agree that it would often get mispronounced… I have [name]Ninon[/name] (pronounced: Ni-known) which is a french diminutive of [name]Anne[/name], on my list as a middle name if I have another daughter… I love all the french diminutives of [name]Anne[/name] and [name]Marie[/name], I think they are all so pretty… 
My best friend is named [name]Manon[/name]. She is originally from Belgium, but is now living in [name]America[/name]. One of the things she hates the most is that nobody can pronounce her name. I’ve known her since pre-k and I can’t pronounce her name. [name]Don[/name]'t even try to pronounce it. NOBODY can pronounce it. Seriously. You may think you’re pronouncing it right, but you’re not because nobody can pronounce this correctly. And if your daughter can’t pronounce her own name, that would just be sad.
Thanks for all the great feedback and things to think about! As a fluent French speaker and lots of family ties I can pronounce it fine but I can see it might be difficult for some people. I never thought manon would have those problems but I can see it. Good thing I’m just looking right now and not expecting or anything lol

It is a shame and I love the name Bérengère so much that Im not sure I will be able to avoid using it if I ever have the chance but if we stay in the States it probably wouldnt be a great idea.
