Maple and her brother

I posted this a few months ago in the girls forum, but since I really need help with boy names thought I would post here too. [name]Just[/name] found out I am pregnant on Friday. My daughter is named [name]Maple[/name]. That’s as unusual as I can go, lol. But I like nature names and I like “regular” names that have some spunk. My candidates so far are:

[name]Henry[/name] (after husband, he goes by [name]Hal[/name])
[name]Rex[/name] (maybe too golden retriever?)
[name]Harrison[/name] (grandmother’s maiden name)
[name]Maxwell[/name] (I grew up in between Mapleton and [name]Maxwell[/name] st, I like [name]Max[/name], but maybe [name]Jessica[/name] [name]Simpson[/name] has feminized it too much?)
[name]Denver[/name] - [name]Colorado[/name] native, kind of unique, but familiar without being made up or hard to say/spell (my favorite kind of name!)
[name]Harbor[/name] - family name is Harbour, but that’s probably too girly. Also go to [name]Harbor[/name] Springs every summer so it has some meaning

Any opinions or new suggestions? I have a lot of girl names I like so not so concerned with those.

I really like [name]Denver[/name] or [name]Harbor[/name] with [name]Maple[/name]. The rest feel too dressed up next to [name]Maple[/name], [name]IMO[/name] (excluding [name]Rex[/name], but my childhood dog was [name]Rex[/name] so I just can’t see it on a child)

Congratulations on your new addition! I love that all your name choices have personal meaning. Good luck!

I love [name]Maple[/name]!

[name]August[/name]
[name]Archer[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name]
[name]Sayer[/name]
[name]Graham[/name]
[name]Atticus[/name]
[name]Baxter[/name]
[name]Donovan[/name]
Gresham
[name]Remington[/name]
[name]Wilder[/name]

I think a nature of word name would work best. Of your choice, I like [name]Denver[/name] and [name]Harbor[/name] the best. I love [name]Birch[/name] and [name]Forrest[/name] but with [name]Maple[/name], they are too cutesy.

Other possibilities:

[name]North[/name], [name]Archer[/name], [name]Canyon[/name], [name]Falcon[/name], [name]Slate[/name], [name]Stone[/name]

My favourite from your list is [name]Henry[/name], though maybe a little bland next to big sis [name]Maple[/name]. I also like [name]Harrison[/name], [name]Maxwell[/name] - though I prefer [name]Max[/name] alone, and [name]Denver[/name]. My favourite nature name for a boy is [name]River[/name], I also like [name]Fox[/name] and [name]Wolf/name

Thank you! I have always liked [name]Graham[/name]. [name]Will[/name] add that to the list!

I love [name]River[/name], but husband won’t do it.

Really like [name]Canyon[/name], thanks! I like [name]Forrest[/name] too, but [name]Maple[/name]/[name]Forrest[/name] is just a bit “too much” like you said.

I love the idea of [name]Maple[/name] and little brother [name]Wilder[/name]. I think it’s perfect.

What about [name]Sylvan[/name]? It has a more subtle tree connection and sounds lovely with [name]Maple[/name].

I second [name]Wilder[/name] enthusiastically. And also [name]Denver[/name] and [name]Harbor[/name], given your explanations. The trick really is to come up with something that fits with [name]Maple[/name] without going too theme-y. [name]Max[/name] works nicely thought, in a different kind of way, with [name]Maple[/name].

From your list, I really like [name]Denver[/name] and [name]Harbor[/name] with [name]Maple[/name]. And I like the previous suggestion of [name]Wilder[/name]. [name]Wilder[/name] and [name]Maple[/name] sound great together.

I quite like [name]Bird[/name] for a boys name, it’s cute and masculine at the same time
[name]Wren[/name] is also nice, and out of your options my fav is Harbour!
Good luck xoxo <3

I like [name]Wilder[/name]. Have you thought about [name]Cedar[/name]?

I love your choice of [name]Maple[/name]! I have never heard of it used as a name, but I think it is lovely! Of your choices, my favorite is [name]Denver[/name]. I think I would definitely go with a word/ meaning name. [name]Henry[/name], [name]Rex[/name] and [name]Max[/name] don’t seem to fit as well. And no, I don’t think that [name]Jessica[/name] [name]Simpson[/name] has destroyed [name]Max[/name] for the boys… I am desperately hoping that it will prove to be an abberation. I also really like the suggestion of [name]Wilder[/name] for you.

I’d go with [name]Harrison[/name] or [name]Denver[/name].

[name]Love[/name] [name]Denver[/name]. So strong and rugged. Goes great with[name]Maple[/name]!

[name]Harrison[/name] is a favorite of mine! But I kinda like [name]Harbor[/name], too. Some of the other suggestions I’ve read that I like are [name]Sawyer[/name], [name]Baxter[/name] and [name]Atticus[/name] (To Kill A Mockingbird is a favorite!)

Congratulations! I fondly remember your thread for [name]Maple[/name] and how excited I was that you chose that name for her. I agree with the Berries suggesting a word/nature name for [name]Maple[/name]'s brother that isn’t too cutesy or themey. From your list, I like [name]Denver[/name] and [name]Harbor[/name] (and also agree with a pp that [name]Max[/name] works nicely with [name]Maple[/name] in a different way.)

Other favorite suggestions were [name]Wilder[/name], [name]Reed[/name], [name]Walden[/name], [name]Hawthorne[/name] (you could also consider the spelling [name]Hawthorn[/name]), and [name]Shepherd[/name]. [name]How[/name] about [name]Grover[/name] instead of [name]Grove[/name]? I love [name]Haven[/name] for a boy (similar to [name]Harbor[/name]), though I’m afraid it’s pretty girly these days. What about Hawkin or [name]Peregrine[/name]/[name]Peregrin[/name]?
I also thought of [name]Rye[/name], which I think is pretty cool on a boy, but then I thought, [name]Maple[/name] and [name]Rye[/name]? It sounds a little too much like a breakfast order.

Best wishes!

I second [name]Wilder[/name] with [name]Maple[/name] as well, but I love the suggestion of [name]Maple[/name] and [name]North[/name] even more. [name]Harbor[/name] does seem kind of girly, I wouldn’t go with that. Good luck!
