I prefer [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] over [name_f]Maple[/name_f]. [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] is one of my favorite names! It’s a little quirky, but classic and lovely. I think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is great!
[name_f]Maple[/name_f] is a guilty pleasure fav of mine. Its on my list, and I would love to use it for a middle name someday.
For your sibset, though, I do prefer [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. Classic, a little vintage. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] with your other choices.
And I can see why you’d say they sound similar. That p/b in the middle is the only different sound between them.
Wow, so many responses! I appreciate all of the feedback. It looks like a pretty even divide between the [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] lovers and [name_f]Maple[/name_f] lovers. I honestly haven’t made my mind up yet… but maybe leaning towards [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], for it’s longer historical use as a name. The meaning also is very beautiful… and dear [name_f]Maple[/name_f] could always be a sweet pet name for [name_f]Mabel[/name_f].
Now it’s up to the daddy, if he approves or not. Fingers crossed!
I also have [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] on my mind and I know he really liked this one. Thoughts on [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], anyone?
I love [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], but my style would be to make it a nickname and put a more formal name on a birth certificate (i.e. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], etc)
