Marcia?

I have a cousin named [name]Marcia[/name], but it isn’t pronounced “[name]Marsha[/name]”, she pronounces it “[name]Mar[/name]-see-uh”. I am just wondering, is this a legitimate pronounciation or were her parents confused? Has anyone even heard of [name]Marcia[/name] being prounounced this way before? By the way, she has a little sister named [name]Maggie[/name], which I think is the most adorable name ever (not short for anything) and a perfect sibset! Anyways, let me know!

I think [name]Marcia[/name] ([name]Mar[/name]-see-uh) is a legit pronunciation. I’ve got three Alicias in my class and two of them are “A-leash-uh” and one is “A-lee-see-uh.” [name]Both[/name] are easy to say, once the distinction is made!

Behind the Name has it as a legitimate pronunciation.

I know a woman named [name]MArcia[/name] who pronounces it [name]MAR[/name]-see-a. I could see this being pronounced as mar-SEE-a too.

I fell in love with the name [name]Marcia[/name] pronounced mar-SEE-uh. But on other forums, I found the consensus on the pronunciation seemed to be [name]Marsha[/name]- which I hated, but I dropped the name.
But even if it mar-SEE-uh is a legit prn, I tend to stay away from names that will be often mispronounced; as my own name has been butchered so many times.

I know a [name]Marcia[/name] pronounced mar-SEE-uh. I want to say it’s a Spanish pronunciation, or perhaps Italian? (Though the one I know is an English-speaking American with no obvious Spanish or Italian heritage.) It doesn’t sound English to me, but it definitely sounds legit.
