After re-watching that old classic, [name_u]Baby[/name_u], the [name_u]Rain[/name_u] Must Fall, I’m stuck on [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a double FN. It’s the name of the little girl in the movie.
Wdyt of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a double name?
I’d imagine around the house she’d end up with a nickname like [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Mamie[/name_f], or [name_f]Rosy[/name_f]. But formally (like at school, aside from close friends) she’d be [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f].
I seriously never heard this [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] referred to as anything but [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Her mother must have had a will of iron, lol!
Wow, lol. I wonder what she thought about it. I knew a [name_f]China[/name_f]-C@therine and her parents would pretend they have no idea what you’re talking about if you refer to her as anything but that, haha
I’m not dazzled by anything embellished with [name_f]Rose[/name_f] these days (with the exception of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a first name or it’s relations like [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]), so [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] does little for me. I also agree it’s kind of mouthful. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if it’s shorter than [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], it doesn’t flow seamlessly enough in my opinion to be an ideal double first name.
I work with a [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] who goes by both names, but I believe it’s hyphenated. I think [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is lovely, but it is quite a lot to say all the time. Maybe you as parents would say her full name, but at school she’d just go by [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or one of the [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] nicknames?
I am not a fan of double first names. The second first name often gets dropped/mistaken as a middle name. Also, [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] were the given names of the late [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is lovely as fn and mn but quite a mouthful for just a fn. [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]-rose is cute though!
Thanks all for the replies! Very mixed responses. It is nice to see both sides. Like I said, she’d probably have [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Mamie[/name_f], or [name_f]Rosy[/name_f] as a nickname for part of the time, and formally be [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] together. And if someone called her just [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], I’d be totally okay with that.
