[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries,
I love the names [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] and looking for your feedback on both names. What comes to mind when you hear them? Which do you prefer? We may use the nn [name_f]Mae[/name_f] but want a first name that we love as well. We live in the San [name_m]Francisco[/name_m] [name_u]Bay[/name_u] Area if that helps for context. Thanks in advance for your help!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] E! I like both [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]. [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] seems country charm + southern belle + vintage gala to me. It reminds me of the short story “[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_m]Daw[/name_m]”, which is a beautifully positive association. [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is more chic and classy to me than [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]. I imagine [name_f]Margot[/name_f] as someone savvy and spunky and maybe a little sassy.
Not sure if this means anything, but my synesthesia says [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] is emerald green with some red berry-spots whereas [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is red and navy blue with a gold-yellow stripe.
I prefer [name_f]Margot[/name_f]; [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] is still a little old-lady. But you might be ahead of the curve if you pick [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] - [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is already on the up and feels fresh again.
[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] is very light, warm and sweet to me, [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is more serious and heavy. I prefer the [name_f]Margo[/name_f] spelling, it feels slightly more playful, but ultimately I think I would choose [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] (or [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]) over [name_f]Margo[/name_f]. [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] feels more versatile when it comes to sibling names, and right now I’m loving a lot of warmer, longer names so [name_f]Margo[/name_f] would feel out of place with those.
(From my own lists, I would land on these sibsets: [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Hermione[/name_f], [name_u]Oberon[/name_u], [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m] and [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]. [name_f]Margo[/name_f], [name_f]Helen[/name_f], [name_f]Audra[/name_f], [name_m]Locke[/name_m], [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_m]Aksel[/name_m].)
I think [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is fresh and spunky… definitely prefer it to [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f].
[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] reminds me of margarine. And [name_f]Marge[/name_f] [name_m]Simpson[/name_m]. Not very favorable.
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] I think is very pretty. I prefer it without the t, but either way it’s a lovely name.
Both of them are very outdated to me, I just cant picture them on a newborn at all. If I had to pick one I would pick [name_f]Margot[/name_f], but I’d spell it [name_f]Margo[/name_f] as [name_f]Margot[/name_f] makes me think of maggot, plus it makes me want to say the T as [name_f]Mar[/name_f]-GOT
