Mari- Smooshes - I have problems!

I like way too many [name_f]Mary[/name_f] smooshes (I’ve just started on the -Beths!) and I am worried… I don’t know that they aren’t okay for a little girl in the present day. But then again, I like double barrel names. [name_f]Mari[/name_f]/[name_f]Mary[/name_f] is also not used very often as a first name here nowadays because it’s labelled an “old lady name.” But I really love [name_f]Mari[/name_f]- names!

Please help me whittle down my list a little:

[name_f]Marianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Maribelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Maribeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Marielle[/name_f]/ [name_f]Mariella /name_f]
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] - (I know it’s not pronounce the same, but still.)
[name_f]Marine[/name_f] - (as a middle name only.)
[name_u]Marion[/name_u]
Maripearl
[name_f]Marisela[/name_f]
[name_f]Marisol[/name_f]

Plus the other M heavy names:
[name_f]Amara[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabry[/name_f] (warming up to it)
[name_f]Macy[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_u]Maret[/name_u]
[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] (guilty pleasure name)
[name_f]Maybelle[/name_f]

Told you it was a little out of control, please help or make me feel better about my obsession.

ha, I think we’re all drawn to names with certain qualities. For me, it’s -son names ([name_u]Emerson[/name_u], [name_u]Addison[/name_u], [name_m]Grayson[/name_m], [name_u]Hudson[/name_u], [name_u]Jameson[/name_u], etc. Less so now than before, but at one point it was pretty out of control, lol. [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and [name_u]Addison[/name_u] are the only ones I truly love now, but I like [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] a lot, and I like [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] to get to [name_u]Gray[/name_u]), -er names ([name_m]Casper[/name_m], [name_u]Spencer[/name_u], [name_u]Harper[/name_u], Kuiper, [name_u]Fifer[/name_u], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u], [name_u]Schuyler[/name_u], [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Painter[/name_m], [name_m]Fielder[/name_m], [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m], [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m], etc.!), -iana names ([name_f]Georgiana[/name_f], [name_f]Liliana[/name_f], [name_f]Ariana[/name_f], [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], [name_f]Mariana[/name_f], [name_f]Giovanna[/name_f], [name_f]Viviana[/name_f], [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], [name_f]Livana[/name_f], etc.). etc. [name_f]Mari[/name_f] names are lovely! From your list I like [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and [name_f]Marine[/name_f], and if [name_f]Marianna[/name_f] was [name_f]Mariana[/name_f], that would get me, too. I love the sleek feeling of [name_f]Mariana[/name_f]! I knew a little girl with the name and she was really sweet. Quiet but still really spunky and stood up for herself. I like the nns [name_f]Mari[/name_f], [name_f]Ani[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], or even [name_f]Mina[/name_f] for it… I like [name_f]Mariella[/name_f], too (was that what that second [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] was supposed to be?).

From your “M” heavy names I also like [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. And don’t shoot me, but I want to offer up [name_f]Mirielle[/name_f]. It’s a variant of [name_f]Mireille[/name_f]/[name_f]Mireya[/name_f] (both of which I also like!), but it also seems really frilly, and somehow something you would like. I think [name_f]Miri[/name_f] is a really cool nn, or even [name_f]Elle[/name_f]/[name_f]Ella[/name_f].

[name_f]Marianna[/name_f] - I’m not a big [name_f]Anna[/name_f] person so I would cut this out.
[name_f]Maribelle[/name_f] - It’s ok
[name_f]Maribeth[/name_f] - No someone with this name who is absolutely horrible.
[name_f]Marielle[/name_f]/[name_f]Marielle[/name_f] - Like this one
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f] - I like this one because it is different
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] - (I know it’s not pronounce the same, but still.) Cute
[name_f]Marine[/name_f] - (as a middle name only.) [name_u]Love[/name_u]
[name_u]Marion[/name_u] - Decent
Maripearl - Ick
[name_f]Marisela[/name_f] - Pretty in another country
[name_f]Marisol[/name_f] - It’s ok

Plus the other M heavy names:
[name_f]Amara[/name_f] - Beautiful
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] - It’s ok. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t really love [name_f]Line[/name_f] names
[name_f]Mabry[/name_f] (warming up to it) - super cute
[name_f]Macy[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] - [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like it
[name_u]Maret[/name_u] - Not sure
[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] (guilty pleasure name) - Ick
[name_f]Maybelle[/name_f] - Sounds like a cow or a ship

There, does that help? Lol.

Focusing on the ones I like best:

[name_f]Marianna[/name_f] – not a fan of “-anna” names. [name_f]Nix[/name_f]
[name_f]Maribelle[/name_f] – Prefer [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] / [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]. [name_f]Nix[/name_f].
[name_f]Maribeth[/name_f] – Prefer as [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f] by a long shot. [name_f]Nix[/name_f].
[name_f]Marielle[/name_f] – Much better. Has good flow so doesn’t sound so botched as, say, [name_f]Maribelle[/name_f] does to me. Keep.
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f] – Good. Keep.
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] – as a middle. Keep.
[name_u]Marion[/name_u] – [name_u]Marian[/name_u] and [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] are other options and I think these, along with [name_u]Marion[/name_u], should replace [name_f]Marianna[/name_f]. Keep.
[name_f]Marisela[/name_f] – [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like. [name_f]Nix[/name_f].
[name_f]Marisol[/name_f] – [name_f]Lovely[/name_f]. I’m always a little apprehensive when it comes to word names from other languages though, unless I have ties to that language. Seems a little different than using an actual name from that culture. But it’s a keeper if you love it.

[name_f]Amara[/name_f] – very pretty
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] – Cute.
[name_f]Mabry[/name_f] – Not a fan.
[name_f]Macy[/name_f] – Not a fan.
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] – Great name.
[name_u]Maret[/name_u] – Also love [name_u]Merritt[/name_u].
[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] – Old lady dated name for me.
[name_f]Maybelle[/name_f] – So darling. Definitely better than [name_f]Maribelle[/name_f]. Ultimately there are better names on your list though.

All my opinion of course. Good luck!

Of your lists, i like [name_f]Mariella[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] best. What about Mirela or [name_f]Mireille[/name_f]? Or just [name_f]Mira[/name_f]?

I worry about the same thing with [name_f]Marisol[/name_f], love the meaning, but don’t want to be culturally insensitive.

I love [name_f]Mira[/name_f]- names as well, haha! [name_m]Just[/name_m] forgot to include them in this list. Merrett Is a family last name and [name_u]Merle[/name_u] is my paternal grandmother’s name, she just passed away, my great grandmother’s middle name was [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]. And then another great grandmother was [name_f]Maud[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. So I may honour them.
