My favorite from your list is [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. Feminine without being too frilly, the religious association is significantly less than with [name_f]Mary[/name_f], and its recognizable without being too common. Although my favorite [name_f]Mary[/name_f] variation is [name_f]Marielle[/name_f]. I love it for all the reasons I like [name_f]Marie[/name_f], and [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] just sounds so beautiful when you say it out loud.

I like [name_f]Maria[/name_f] because I see [name_f]Marie[/name_f] ALL the time and don’t really like [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. Also Sound of [name_f]Music[/name_f].

[name_f]Mary[/name_f]! I just met a baby called [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and it made me realise, she’s the first person I’ve ever met with this name under the age of 65! [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is really boring now. [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is vintage fresh!

I really like [name_f]Maria[/name_f]. It has a lovely sound and crosses many cultures.

Thanks for all the votes so far!

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] is vintage and sweet. I categorize it with [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f], etc.

[name_f]Marie[/name_f] and [name_f]Maria[/name_f] I find just plain old lady.

I Like [name_f]Marie[/name_f] as a first name! I only ever see it being used as a middle name so I voted for [name_f]Marie[/name_f].

My favorite is [name_f]Maria[/name_f] since I tend to like longer names and [name_f]Maria[/name_f] has three syllables despite only being five letters long. Also, [name_f]Mia[/name_f] is a cute nickname that you can’t really get with [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Marie[/name_f] unless you really stretch.

Thanks again! To anyone who said none of the above why and what would you suggest?

[name_f]Mary[/name_f], of course! I don’ think I’ve ever seen it as a stand-alone name, which is such a shame. [name_f]Maria[/name_f] is second. I don’t like [name_f]Marie[/name_f] as a first, and it’s way overdone as a middle!

Oooh! I forgot I love the [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] pronunciation of [name_f]Maria[/name_f], but I’m not a fan of the extra H.

I chose [name_f]Mary[/name_f] because it is beautifully simple and, for children nowadays, slightly rare. I don’t think it’s overly associated to the Biblical [name_f]Mary[/name_f]; this is my favorite girls name and I’m not even religious! Totally using this for a future daughter.

I’ve always been so bummed that [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is so ridiculously overused… I think it’s gorgeous, both the way it looks and the way it sounds. [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is just super boring, and [name_f]Maria[/name_f] sounds… I don’t know, haughty or something. [name_f]Marie[/name_f] (or I also like [name_f]Mari[/name_f], although that changes the pronunciation) is light and pretty. I’d never, ever use it though, unfortunately.

I think [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is the prettiest! I feel like [name_f]Maria[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] are way overused. But with [name_f]Marie[/name_f], you can stay classic with a bit of a twist!
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] that helps.

[name_f]Mary[/name_f]! There are only a handful of names that match [name_f]Mary[/name_f]'s elegance, versatility, timelessness, and rich history.

I adore [name_f]Mary[/name_f] so classic and beautiful. I love the religious connection! I’m totally bummed that I can’t use it because we have a son named [name_m]Mark[/name_m]. We’re thinking of using [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] instead so I can still get my [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and it picks up the cute nickname [name_f]Ro[/name_f] and [name_u]Romy[/name_u] as well.

I think all 3 are nice. My favorite [name_f]Mary[/name_f] variations though are [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_f]Moira[/name_f], [name_f]Maura[/name_f], and [name_f]Malia[/name_f].

I love the sweet informal [name_f]Marie[/name_f] the most I think. With the stress on the second syllable, she feels bouncy and welcoming.
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] is a little too serious and stern and [name_f]Maria[/name_f] too airy.

I love other variants more though, [name_f]Mari[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_u]Marian[/name_u] and [name_f]Mariel[/name_f] are my favourites. [name_f]Mari[/name_f] and [name_u]Marian[/name_u] on top.
Also intrigued by [name_f]Maris[/name_f] and all the [name_u]Marian[/name_u] names, [name_f]Socorro[/name_f], [name_m]Roc[/name_m]ío, [name_f]Soledad[/name_f] and such.
